Is it time for a fresh approach?

Dessers has scored in "big games". He's scored in every competition we've played in, including Europe.

Its got nothing to do with goals in big games, its him complete lack of presence. He might as well have went for a nap in the centre circle on Saturday. He offers nothing in these types of games. He cannot. He is essentially a Kris Boyd when we need a Kenny Miller or a Jelavic.

I dont expect Danilo to offer anything over Dessers. He is essentially a more expensive replica.

Look at the season we won 55 - we didn't have a presence then either. Morelos, Roofe and DeFoe shared the striking responsibilities, only Morelos could be classed as a "presence".

All 3 of them contributed with goals (ironically none scored more than Dessers did last season), but we also had Tav (who finished joint top scorer with Roofe if I remember correctly), Aribo, Kent, Arfiled all scoring goals on a regular(ish) basis.

In our current squad, we could have a striker with all the presence in the world, it wouldn't make 1 iota of a difference. No matter who our number 9 is, we are over-relient on them to score our goals.

Using Sunday as an example, our striker could have scored a hat-trick and still wouldn't have finished on the winning side.

If you have a #9 that can hold up the ball, occupy defenders, make penetrating runs, win aerial duels etc You will get goals from other areas of the team.

And off course those type of strikers grow on trees and you can pick them up from your local Poundland.

Our whole attacking line is weak, not just the number 9.

Do DeFoe and Roofe are a presence? They played as much as Morelos. Roofe outscored Morelos as well. So your argument falls down.

The Dessers has no presencce argument is false imo. At porkheid his pressing was fine the first fifteen minutes when he was pressing as part of a front three, but Matondo's weekly injury scuppered that. After that point it's just Dessers hasling two or three defenders and wasting his energy. Dessers is the least of our problems, and unless he gets the Rangers injury virus will defo score enough goals to justify his position.

Not having the pressing thing mate sorry

Not sure this ‘least of our problems’ thing is valid. A problem is a problem.
