Tbh the second half was the lads dying on their arse and not being proactive enough/game state.

 

If we sort our distances out in defence we'd be half decent.

For all the neat one-touch stuff in midfield, we overdo it again in the final third. Far too often, the "attacker" takes at least two touches before he shoots ... and the defence arrives.

 

Barron and Diomande were done around the 60th minute, should have been replaced with Sterling and Dowell. One for the power, one for the passes. Thus, we toiled in our own half and invited attack after attack. 

 

You do wonder what the story with Danilo is. While Dessers is okay thus far, our second striker needs minutes as well.

After a decent 1st half, we ended up hanging on against a Morherwell team ravaged by injuries. 

 

1st win of season, Barron was outstanding, Cerny looks a player, Propper had an eventful debut, Dessers scores again. 

 

Ridvan and Tav remain weak links in the team. So much breaks down with them due to their lack of final ball. Also both posted missing defensively.

Btw, there isn't a football team on this planet nor has there ever been one which is excellent for 90 minutes week in week out.

 

Guardiola didn't even have that with his Barcelona team.

 

If we are excellent for long periods in a game, this time being 30 minutes for instance, and can manage the game for the rest of it we will probably win the league.

 

Now we SHOULD strive for 90 minute performances every week, but realistically the team would be buggered by December.

 

Even during '55 we were superb for the first half of the season and then took the foot off the gas a wee bit the second half.

 

I'm pretty happy with today, we got the win, no injuries and can put everything into midweek.
