"We missed Lundstrum today".

That comment isn't from a poster on a forum, or a faniat the game, it's from our manager.

He has a tendency to say odd things. Our main problem today was up front, so not sure how or why we missed Lundstram.

He meant the experience.

The problem with that is that Celtc don't drop many points.  If it takes us until September or October to get up to speed, the league may already be lost.

We can't control that.

From Clement's comments, it's a wee bit of rotation to get players up to speed after a season or two of awful fitness or another buildup of injured players.

It's not good to hear, but we'll just need to put up with it.

If they werent his signings then whose signings were they? Ross Wilson wasnt a scout or a football man. The manager would have signed off on them 100%.

His remit would've been heading up recruitment as well as the football operations - that's what DOF's do.

Jurgen Klopp didn't want Mo Salah famously but Michael Edwards (the DOF) pushed it through and the rest is history.

Brendan Rodgers wanted Christian Benteke and not Roberto Firmino.

The days of managers making signings are long gone unless you're Dick Campbell at Arbroath or the like.

GVB was probably offered Matondo and he took it, similar to Davies. That doesn't mean they were HIS signings, if you get what I mean.

If he really was that involved in recruitment then we were more of a shitshow than I realised. Beale I understand because there wasn't a DOF or HOR (Koppen). Look where that got us.

Aye, that's what I'm thinking and I'm okay (but not happy) with it.  Knowing the Rangers support, I'm not convinced it's possible though.  Time will tell.

So how long do we give the management staff to get the players fit? As professional athletes, fitness should be a given.

If we are giving the manager and therefore the team a free pass until Sept / Oct are we writing off this season? Be as well as Celtic will have disappeared over the horizon and we'll have missed out on CL qualification.

We all knew what was required in the close-season. We have been far too slow getting the squad we require.

It should, generally, but our medical/fitness have been mismanaged for several seasons, as Clement has repeatedly said. We've all been saying it for a while.

We can't control what they do.

We're half way there by offloading all the rubbish, but we've not made progress on adding to the first-team.

I'm writing off this season, yes. That's just me. I think this is the rebuild we all wanted - but it won't be as easy as everyone seemed to think it would be.

Bear in mind a lot of prem teams are slow out of the blocks down south (City most notably).

The season doesn't start properly for me until after the October intl break.

If we're still in touch or better by then then the work in pre season should see us through the rest of the way.

Theoretically.
