Man United welcome support from Government after 'once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' Old Trafford regeneration project was announced

Manchester United have welcomed the announcement of Government support for the project to regenerate the area around Old Trafford, with chief executive Omar Berrada describing it as a 'once-in-a-lifetime opportunity'.

A UK Treasury statement on Saturday evening said Chancellor Rachel Reeves was championing the Old Trafford project as 'a shining example' of the Government's plans to promote economic growth.

A world-leading new venue - either redeveloping the current stadium to increase capacity to 87,000 or build a new ground which could hold 100,000 fans - is at the heart of the regeneration project.

'The delivery of a world-class stadium can be the catalyst for major regeneration of an area of Greater Manchester which requires new investment to thrive again,' Berrada said in a statement published on the United website.

'We cannot achieve that wider aim on our own, which is why we welcome the announcement by the Chancellor and the ongoing support of the Mayor of Greater Manchester (Andy Burnham) and Trafford Council.

'If we work together, there is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a landmark project around Old Trafford that the whole region can

New signing for city had a nightmare start but he managed to settle in before he got substituted Haaland scored a nice goal city's win.

Yeah, Pep shouldnt have thrown him in. The best things for the lad would be to start the next game but he is cup tied in the CL and next week its Arsenal away then Newcastle and Liverpool so he wont be appearing too soon.

Acid test for Forest. Win their next and they’re fine. Lose and they’re the Aberdeen of England.

Brighton at home so they have a chance.

Probably Spurs playing Leicester will be the pick of the bunch today

If West Ham turn up then Villa v West Ham will be a good match but agree with Scott, Fulham v Man Utd under the lights could be tasty.

Daniel Levy will he or won't wield the axe if I were him I'd keep the manager

He's got no option to pull the trigger, 4 defeats in a row and losing to Leicester at home who have had 7 defeats in a row is probably a final straw. The only thing Ange has got going for him is the fans are after Levy more as they cant put a defence out at the moment.

Good away win for Brentford, predicting them and Palace is a nightmare.

Didnt see that win coming for Man Utd.

Just had a look at Tottenham's results this season. Thats 1 point against Leicester over 2 games, they drew 2-2 at home to Wolves and lost 2-1 at home to Ipswich.

So they have picked up 2 points out of 12 points available against 3 of the teams fighting to stay in the league.

I note with interest, and some amusement, that The Man Who Invented Attacking Football is under pressure at New White Hart Lane, and that Okkerball no longer seems to be flavour of anybody's month, not even of those who take an homeopathic view, and aver that dilution of quality is the way forward.

The gravy boat has not sunk yet, although the players, allegedly, are bitching and complaining behind his back.

Frankly, he has never impressed me: up here he had -by far- the largest budget, scared, compliant, officials and his record in European competition was nothing to write home about (and that for a mob which tells us that it is out to show the world what it can do). To be scrupulously fair, his captain advised us, displaying not even the merest hint of a speck of a scintilla of irony, that rasellik is refereed to a different standard by continental officials, by way of explanation of recurring failure. For the avoidance of doubt, this standard, of course, means the application of the Laws of the Game, objectively, without, ahem, fear or favour.

I concede that I am inclined, naturally, to take a disapproving view of any anybody who has any involvement with that outfit, viewing them as complicit in  decades of child abuse, its denial, and its concealment. Laying my distaste aside, however, as far as football goes, I have a sneaking suspicion that he is being found out.
