Haaland just signed a 9.5 years new deal at Man City

The media push things so football only started in 1992 with the Premier League. All the talk is about Shearer's record being beaten so

I went and had a look at the top 50 goalscorers in the English top flight and in the top 20 Harry Kane is the only one to have played all his football in the Premier League era. Even Shearer in 5th place had 23 goals in the old Division 1.

You chaps who watched football in the 60s and 70s must have been treated to far better talent than there is now because from the list of top 50 (there was 56 due to shared goals tally) I have seen less than half of them play. In the top 20 I've only seen Shearer, Rush, Cottee, Kane and 3 of those played in the old first division.

I don't believe that for a second.

More likely the opponents and tactics were poor in an amateur era when goals were generally more common.

One thing I would say is they played on awful pitches and tackles were far harder, even in the 80s this was case.
