Do we not get to make changes once the group stage is over?

Yeah, once the transfer window is closed. But I'd prefer we could make changes now. Tom Lawrence isn't going to play for us again in Europe. Nor is Big Kas Orange. That's 2 guys we could replace with NSiala and Hagi. We could struggle to put out a team in the next 2 games if we pick up a couple more injuries.

Then others can just buy their way out of trouble, which we would also complain about.

I think the rules are fair.

It's tough sh*t re injuries, but that's the same for everyone.

Man City in a bit of trouble, they have to beat Brugge to make it to the play off round.

Cracking result for Feyenoord over Bayern, I thought that was an interesting game. As it stands in the table Bayern would be playing either Juventus or Real Madrid in the knock out round.

This format has been genius by UEFA, no more meaningless rounds of matches in the group stages.

That will always be the case with the wealthy clubs. I think these rules have a negative effect on the overall transfer window for clubs playing in Europe, and potentially restrict the players movement if they want to move on.

Look at Dessers and Lawrence for example, we want to move them on but to lose 2 players from an already very short list when we are in a good position to qualify doesn't make sense. So we will likely wait until the very end of the window when the USG game is out of the way before letting them go. The risk is they have moved lined up and pick up and injury, or potential suitors source an alternative to get a player in the door sooner.

If we were in a title race this season and looked to bring in a couple of defenders for example, we would ideally get them in early in January and playing for us domestically, as it is a very busy schedule for us November-March. That could make a huge difference to the outcome of a season. If we were buying from clubs playing in Europe who had the same registration and squad depth problems we have they would be reluctant to sell until the end of the group phase.

It just makes sense to me that any transfer window and registration window should be aligned. But I understand the argument that a Man City or Man U could just go out and buy a couple of 50 million players if they are struggling to qualify for the KO phase.

Wednesday is the day when the first phase finishes City need to beat Brugge and then depend on other results its not going to happen Celtic will probably qualify earning a wad of cash 😡 don’t think I’ll bother watching any of the matches .

City just need to win and they will go above Brugge so Id expect the Belgian club to play for the draw which would knock City out.

Stuttgart v PSG is interesting - winner goes into the knock out round and defeat could see PSG go out altogether depending on 2 other results.

I think I might watch Villa v Celtic though, if Villa win they are top 8 so they will be going for it.

If the table finished as it now Celtic would have been playing Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the knock out round which is a pity as that would have been them pumped.
