Pointless because nobody sings properly nowadays. Bothe of these venerable anthems and English fans’ bowdlerised versions of the Billy Boys are yapped at ridiculous speeds.

The song was was written by Harry Lauder. from Portobello, (and no' the wan in Darien) later domiciled at Lauder Ha', up by Strathaven, and near the Shoogly Brig. 

 

(YNWA is hardly a folk song: a maudlin piece of kitsch from a maudlin piece of kitsch, called Carousel.)

 

You are right, however, about the speed with which anthems are essayed, these days.
