The Summer 2024 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

Latest from Rangers Review:

Rangers will look to recoup the £4.5million fee that was shelled out for Cyriel Dessers last summer as the striker attracts interest from Saudia Arabia and a handful of European clubs.

Greek outfit PAOK were last week heavily linked with a move for Dessers just 12 months after he arrived in Glasgow from Cremonese. The Nigerian internationalist scored 22 goals in all competitions for Rangers during what was a tumultuous campaign at Ibrox.

Now the Rangers Review understands that clubs in France and Spain have also registered their interest in Dessers ahead of a potential exit this summer. It is believed the situation is also being closely monitored in Saudi as Dessers considers his options ahead of the new term.

The 29-year-old was one of the headline arrivals of Michael Beale’s shopping spree 12 months ago but endured a difficult start to life in Glasgow. The arrival of Philippe Clement in October sparked an upturn in his fortunes but Rangers are open to doing business and expect to recoup their outlay as part of a significant rebuild ahead of the big kick-off in the coming weeks.

Rangers have added five players to their squad so far as Philippe Clement overhauls the group that finished second in the Premiership last time out. Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane will become the latest recruit when he puts pen-to-paper on his switch from FAR Rabat in the coming days.

Winger Yusuf Kadabayi will not be following him into Ibrox after he agreed a four-year deal with Bundesliga side FC Augsburg. It is also understood that a move for Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean has stalled.

The departure of Dessers would leave Clement with just Igamane and Danilo as his centre-forward options following the decision to release Kemar Roofe at the end of his contract. Jon McLaughlin, Borna Barisic, John Lundstram and Ryan Jack also exited in the aftermath of the Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic.

Nils Koppen, the director of football recruitment, is continuing to work on a list of targets to add strength and depth to Clement’s squad and Rangers are open to offers for a number of players as the Belgian books seeks to alter the profile of the first team group.

Forward Sam Lammers will be allowed to leave amid interest from two Eredivisie clubs. It is understood that no discussions over a fee have taken place regarding the Dutchman, who was a £3.5million recruit from Atalanta 12 months ago.

A number of other players - including the likes of Robby McCrorie, Scott Wright and Todd Cantwell - are also expected to depart amid ongoing uncertainty over the futures of skipper James Tavernier and vice-captain Connor Goldson.

Given how poor our last few transfer windows have been, fans have no confidence in the club to deliver on or off the park. Whether its transfers, construction projects, medical department or games v the rotten mob we have a track record of failure.

I don't think any supporter can be blamed for being negative. The club has given very little cause for optimism recently, other than hiring Clement.

Aye that's fair.

I'm encouraged by the fact that there's a clear strategy in place this window tbf.

What would you take for Cantwell?

I'd deal on 5m tbh. Especially if we got him for less than 2m.

I'd bite your hand off for 5 million. If he is being punted by his agent to the likes of Lecce we cant be wanting much for him.

No its part of the Newsquest Evening times / Herald group. 100% not fan media correct.

If its good enough for some of the H&H guys and Stevie Clifford to go on (granted they are probably paid) its ok by me.

Evening Times can give the Rhebel a run for its money most of the time. What used to be a good balanced paper with pro-Rangers and pro-timmy pages is now much less balanced as well as a massive deterioration in quality. The Herald has always been a timmy rhag. H&H and SC need to do what they need to do to earn a living now they are exclusively in the media business, but they need to be aware that by going onto a Herald/Times production they are damaging their own reputation by association. I will continue to avoid methinks.

I think we'll be lucky to get 3m for him

Essentially, the important part is....

malgré les intérêts évoqués (Rangers), le club doyen n’a, à ce jour, reçu aucune offre.
translates to:
despite the interests expressed (Rangers), the oldest club has, to date, received no offer.

I see that agent supposed leaked message shows Cantwell at 8.5M Euros, that is a decent starting price as long as we get add-ons. We must stop thinking of our players values (not you personally per se) in terms of how they have performed with us, but more in terms of what teams are willing to pay. Do you think for a moment any fan of Dessers previous club thought he was worth £3M or whatever it was reported we paid? Not a chance but there is always some mug out there with deepish pockets willing to pay to get a profile in. This is the way the bheasts have supposedly done it for years, getting way over the odds (allbeit with media help to inflate prices) for players they dont want anymore. This has to be the model for us. We should not be happy with £3.5M for Lammers, he was Dutch top league scorer FFS, anyone looking at that from England would start bidding at £20M!!

The apparent lack of interest in Lammers is quite puzzling tbh. He had an unreal second half of the season in Holland.

'In Holland' being the key part of that.

He's been poor outside of his home country.

Shouldn't stop Dutch teams taking a punt though.
