I’d like to see us stick to Europe players.

one player we’ve missed is Erik Botheim who were linked with in the past.

Hes now doing well at Malmö.

Problem is we'll miss the boat if we don't exploit markets outside of Europe before they explode.

You've seen that to a degree with the amount of players that have come over from Asia and Australia to Scotland - the South American and African markets would be just as viable to recruit from imo.

Bennetts spoken about being aggressive in his approach and this is evidence of that - it would be lazy for us to just solely recruit from Europe.

It's not like the SPFL is at a level where these rumoured players couldn't play at either, respectfully. If Brighton can sign Alexis Mac Allister and blood him in the prem then I have 0 worries about the quality and how it transfers to British football.

Gregor was a pussy compared to Jim Steele  😉

Jim Steele's Rangers career was truly unique.

During season 1975-76, he arrived from FA Cup winners, Southampton for a month's loan. He played five games and was cautioned in each and every match. At the end of the season, several months after the conclusion of his loan period; he was the recipient of more RSC POTY winners trophies than the rest of the team put together.

The Ibrox trophy room should display a chainsaw with a plaque dedicated to Jim Steele's tenacious tenacity.

Given the amount of goals we were conceding towards the end of last season defence should be top priority. Particularly the RH side of our defence which seemed most vulnerable

Based on what I watched last night, there must be some Serbians out there we can unearth? The way they effortlessly kept the ball last night was great to watch. It put the shambles that is Scotland in an even worse light IMO.

I've always said the former Yugoslav countries are the best place to look for prospects.  The Italian clubs tend to keep a keen eye on goings on in Serbia, so a lot of them end up in Serie A.  Doesn't mean we can't have a look there though.

Prso, Jelavic and Papac didn't do too badly.

Former Scottish FA performance director Mark Wotte believes reported Rangers target Hamza Igamane, 21, of AS FAR, would not be overawed by the Scottish top flight. (Record)

Rangers want a fee of £5m if they are to sell Tom Lawrence, 30, this summer. (Football Insider)

Swansea City's hopes of signing free agent Connor Barron, 21, seem to be fading as Rangers step up their interest in the former Aberdeen midfielder. (Wales Online)

Connor Barron meanwhile has a number of interested parties including clubs down in England as well as in Serie A. Gers were believed to be leading the chase for the former Aberdeen midfielder before other suitors emerged but now it's claimed the club have put fresh contract terms in front of the player. Dons would be expecting around £525,000 in training compensation should he move outside of Scottish football.

One name mentioned has been Hamza Igamane of FAR Rabat and the Moroccan under-23 striker is reportedly close to being announced as their newest acquisition on a £1.7million deal. The player is seen as one of the country's most talented youngsters and only a medical is still to be completed.

Another striker, Albion Rrahmani is still on their list and a source in Romania has told Football Scotland that Gers can consider themselves in pole position to land the Rapid Bucharest star. Club chief insisted, though, that one offer currently lodged for the player is not acceptable. Rapid are in no rush to sell the 23-year-old, who they signed for a bargain £500k from Ballkani last year. It's said that Rapid will demand between £5-6million for their star man but supremo Moldovan has confirmed that they've booted out a bid from an unnamed team for the hotshot.

Wee sidenote: it could well be that we have a few European Championship players on our target list, e.g. Liam Kelly, but will only approach them or any deal after their teams have left the tournament.
