Gribz 847
Rangers are to lay a new playing surface in time for Wednesday's re-scheduled Scottish Cup tie with East Stirlingshire at Ibrox. Work starts on Friday and will continue over the weekend to be ready for the match on 23 January. The match was originally due to be played on Sunday 13 January, but was postponed after heavy rain left the Ibrox surface waterlogged. The club's groundstaff are confident the pitch will be ready for Wednesday. This is a good thing as the pitch has been shocking recently. No excuses for not putting at least 6 past East Stirling now!!
calscot 0
Looks like we'll be putting in a new pitch every January. Is there not a more cost effective solution than this? Seems to me we should dramatically improve the drainage and get in those lights for the grass that Arsenal have. Other large stadiums have good pitches so what are we doing wrong? (Apart from maybe digging down too far...)
gisabeer 409
remember a few seasons ago there was something up with the grass, it had a disease or something. they said at the time it would cause major problems .

fraser54 0
Pitch was in superd condition until we played DUndee Utd a few weeks ago in that heavy rain and it just cut up
Guest scotzine
cost effective way = buying loadsa army style ponchos sew they together make a tent across the ibrox pitch and sort the drainage out - then watch as the rain runs into the drains - there ye go! saved the club how many hundreds of thousands on imported green grass! cricket clubs use the same method of sorts wimbeldon use a similar thing also why not a footie club - just need a proper system sorted out and it would save clubs across the country thousands and would also help those clubs that call games off cause of frost - because the race courses have a system in place to prevent frost on their courses - well down in england not scotland yet - buy spending a few thousand on a system that will run for years and years the clubs save hundreds of thousands of pounds in lost revenue and changing pitches etc.

(Apart from maybe digging down too far...) Yeah it seems we are doing this, so drainage and light solutions would be a start. Im getting more and more towards the idea of summer football. Id miss the Xmas program but for the good of our game it think its time to switch the season from Feb to Nov.
