So what happens if the pitch is unplayable next Wednesday evening?

The $64,000 question.

If I was a gambling man, I'd bet the game won't go ahead next week given the forecast

If we reach the cup final it will be squeezed in between the final and the last league game

Has to be played before the split as Dundee can still make it into top 6.

About sick of hearing the media blame it on the weather.

That's some BS.

Dundee Sellick play right acrossed the damned street and their pitch is just fine.

This is negligence on the part of that club.

The league need to fine the club for failure to meet standards and relocate to other.

Clowns.

Indeed, so will they have to delay the start of the split? They should already have made the decision that Dundee forfeit home advantage and play the game at Ibrox (that should really have happened tonight) or they forfeit the game and we get 3 points, but of course the rules don't provide for that sort of contingency. No, they'd rather inconvenience the clubs, players, fans and at worst risk their safety.   SPFL at their incompetent best.

Rangers have accused Dundee of "negligence and unprofessionalism" after the sides' Scottish Premiership match was postponed for a second time because of a waterlogged pitch.

The Dens Park surface passed an inspection at 11:00 BST but heavy rainfall has rendered it unplayable after another check at 15:30.

The match will now take place on Wednesday, 17 April.

There are disciplinary proceedings against Dundee after a fifth call-off.

"The negligence and unprofessionalism demonstrated by Dundee Football Club, where they have repeatedly breached SPFL rules, continues to have a damaging effect on the top professional league in the country," Rangers commented in a club statement.

"In a week where record TV viewing figures were recorded for a match in the same competition, and this evening's game due to be televised again by Sky Sports, this episode is deeply embarrassing and has also been eminently avoidable.

"Rangers expects the SPFL to take proportionate and decisive action in accordance with its rules, and the club will continue to make representations to them in the strongest possible manner."

Rangers are one point behind Celtic following Sunday's thrilling 3-3 derby draw at Ibrox, and this is Philippe Clement's side's game in hand over their city rivals.

A victory would have taken them two points clear at the league summit, while a Dundee win would have clinched a top-six berth.

With Tony Docherty's side still to confirm their place in the top half, the second postponement of this fixture has potentially disrupted the usual process of all clubs confirming their status on the same weekend before the six post-split games are then announced.

Dundee need a win away to Aberdeen on Saturday to make sure of a top-six finish.

Rangers, meanwhile, are away to Ross County on Sunday.

SPFL chief operating officer Calum Beattie confirmed the contingency plan was always for the game to be played next Wednesday, and no other solution was found after discussions with both clubs.

"This decision gives this vital fixture the very best chance of being played in front of both sets of supporters and also gives us a week to finalise further contingency planning in the event that the weather unexpectedly deteriorates in the interim," Beattie said in a statement.

"There is currently an ongoing disciplinary process regarding pitch issues at Dens Park and the latest developments will form part of those enquiries."

However, Rangers say they suggested alternative solutions which "have not been taken up", adding they have written to the league with a different proposal for ensuring the match takes place.

As well as this fixture with Rangers being postponed twice, Dundee have also had home games against Aberdeen, Ross County, and St Johnstone called off this season.

As ratified in the SPFL Membership Criteria 2024/25

Other Stadia Requirements

Clubs and the Candidate Club are reminded of the continuing requirements

 Rule H11: Each Club is under an obligation to ensure that the pitch at its Registered Ground or other ground at which it is authorised by the SPFL Board to play its Home Matches is smooth and in good condition and repair and that it has an efficient and effective drainage system so that it does not become unplayable due to flooding;

• Rule H12: The SPFL Board is entitled to direct a Club to take such steps as the SPFL Board considers necessary in order that the pitch at its Registered Ground or other ground where it is authorised to play its Home Matches is put into and maintained in good condition and repair;

• Rule H18: Registered Grounds or other grounds authorised for the playing of Home Matches are required to have floodlights which give minimum lux and other values based on the Division in which the Club plays: Scottish FA Silver Standard (cinch Premiership and cinch Championship Clubs) and Bronze Standard (cinch League 1 and cinch League 2 Clubs); and

• Rule H19: there are minimum and maximum recommended pitch dimensions, based on the Division in which a Club is entitled to participate, specified.

A failure to comply with these requirements is a breach of the Rules and would result in the relevant Club being liable to a range of possible sanctions.

Lifted from FF:

The Dundee Club Secretary - Eric Drysdale

Just interviewed on Sky

“35% more rain than 10 year average, its climate change and we will need to adapt Dens to suit that”

No joke.
