Dunfermline have sacked manager Stephen Kenny with the pre-season promotion favourites languishing near the bottom of Scotland's Division One.

Veteran striker Jim McIntyre becomes temporary head coach, the club website stating: "DAFC have terminated their contract with Stephen Kenny.

"And, with immediate effect, Jim McIntyre becomes DAFC's caretaker."

Kenny arrived from Derry City last November, but his side dropped out of the Scottish Premier League.

He led the Fife outfit to the Scottish Cup final last term.

And, although they reached the Scottish Football League's Challenge Cup final this season, they have slipped 21 points behind leaders Hamilton Academical in the race for promotion.

Couldn't really care less, but he inherited a shit squad with no money to strengthen it. Do fans and chairmen think managers have a magic wand that can turn crap players into Maradona overnight? Especially in these days where he has ony had 2 transfer windows to make his mark on the squad, managers need more than year!

He is a funny guy eh.....

Stephen Kenny insists he was surprised to be sacked by Dunfermline - despite the pre-season promotion favourites sitting second bottom in Division One.

"The last couple of games had been okay," the former manager told The Sun.
