Frankie 8,552
Just merged the two Cousin threads... Sorry for any confusion...
Gazza_8 233
WS prefers/preferred Cousin to Boyd in the SPL and now that Cousin has gone we don't really have anyone who can come in and score the goals for us like Cousin did. Boyd isn't in WSs plans, JCD is always injured and Naismith is being played out wide.
ascender 352
But we are playing a different system now, so surely we could put anyone in to Cousin's role and they could finish chances? Playing with Burke and Naismith in wide attaching roles seems to be making more chances for our front man, so I'd have though JCD, Novo or Boyd could just step in and do the job now for us. The thing about Cousin was that his attributes were giving us much more than the others would have in the European games where our one up front was a proper lone striker role. I don't think its the same as that any more, so I'd like to see one of the other guys given a chance in the existing formation.
Gazza_8 233
Are we playing a new system? To me, we're still going with 1 man up front no matter who plays on the wings. Boyd needs to be part of a 2 man attacking formation where others are doing the hard work for him to score. That doesn't happen when we go with 1 up top.
Frankie 8,552
I think we've played the same formation all season - give or take a few games. 4-5-1
ascender 352
Its still a 4-5-1, but having Burke and Naismith filling two of the wide berths has definitely changed the attacking shape IMO.
Frankie 8,552
Of course... they are different types of players to Beasley and McCulloch but generally speaking we've used the same parent 4-5-1 formation out with 4-4-2 on the odd occassion

ascender 352
Rumour is now that Fifa have blocked the deal.... Or is it just silly season on the rumour front?
