What’s needed?

Recommended Posts

Listening to last night game you’d have thought there wasn’t any bad tackles but the results are to be seen with our injuries so got me thinking as transfers seem to take an eternity maybe the manager will bring in a couple of loans until the season ends .

Lundstam will be missed it sounded like Cantwell took a knock and Roofe with his injury woes might as well be in the bed next me we’ve a great chance of overtaking the other lot let’s not lose momentum .

We need a forward. We can't only have Dessers playing in that position for 90 minutes every week.

We can't rely on McCausland every week so having someone else on the right would also be good.

We may need a midfielder depending on how long Raskin is out for.

An entire new front 3. Left to right we are powderpuff as hell and not close to being good enough. That's priority for me.

A creative centre midfielder and a holding midfielder.

A left back.

And a centre back.

Are we really powder-puff? How many goals have we scored this season? I'm sure our xG this season is very encouraging.

We are 2 points behind Celtic in the league with a game in hand, have won the 1st compition of the season and progressed, as group winners to the later stages of the EL.

We definitely require additional players but the need is more down to our horrendous injury list rather than us being "poweder-puff".

Sima has been the standout forward, Cantwell is beginning to show flashes of last seasons form, McCausland has been a find ( ut like all young players, will be inconsistent) and Danilo and Dessers have shown quality in spells (bother been hampered by injury).

Even players like Lammers and Matando have shown flashes or quality and are nowhere near as bad as they are made out to be.

Butland has been the signing of the summer, but Sterling looks to be very good and very versatile. Dowell whilst being injured for a while was one of the better players last night.

I'd say our biggest concern is in the left back area. Borna has been a decent servant but coming to the end of his Rangers career. Yilmaz is not what is required and is the weakest player in our squad (IMO). He has also struggled with injuries.

In my opinion it is more important to get rid of the permanently injured players like Roofe, Lawrence, Jack etc and replace them with players who can contribute more.

Strikers and midfielders.  Preferably ones that can score goals, set up goals and stay fit.

How can the club ensure we only sign players who will stay fit? Most of our injuries this season have been the result of "tackles".

Rousseau will know.  Juju and crystal balls are usually linked.

Yes, we are powderpuff. We really struggle to score goals. We aren't free flowing and we miss so many sitters coupled with making so many poor decisions in attacking areas. Across various players. We just aren't very good in the final third. That awful Celtic side are 8 goals ahead of us in the league. and they are in crisis. They've got a midfielder who has scored more goals than our main strikers. We've only actually scored 4 goals or more(5 once) 4 times this season from 30 games. We really struggle to score goals against Aberdeen and Celtic and only scored 8 goals in 6 games to get out of the Europa Group, with 2 pathetic performances against Limassol in there. Our top scorer is a right back. We don't have attackers or strikers who regularly get 15 or 20 goals per season, and we don't have any midfielders who are hitting double figures either and that's who win you titles. Match winners. All our options across the front 3 are mediocre. It's great seeing wee Ross M playing but his numbers are shite, he needs to start producing numbers.

Agree about binning the perennially injured players. Time to cut ties.

Sima has outscored all of Celtics forwards, Dessers has outscored or scored the same amount as Celtics forwards having played less games.

Danilo is only 2 behind Celtics top scoring forward having played significantly less games.

We have 2 out of the top 3 scorers in the league (Tav and Sima), they have 1 in the top 3 (a midfielder).

You are correct that our midfield players aren't scoring enough, but Sima and Dessers are on course to score 15 - 20 goals each (if the stay fit), as is Tav.

Need a whole new front line and midfield.

Always important to strengthen the defence first though. We all know that Tavernier and Barišić are suspect so both need replaced quickly. We've needed a settled partner for Goldson for quite some time now. We should make that a priority too. Goldson has been here for years so we should freshen things up by finding a replacement for him.

Sadly we will be forced to replace the goalkeeper. He will leave in January for two million pounds. Given the number of first team players required this money will be very useful.
