Gribz 917
UEFA worked with the refs to ensure Scotland never qualified! That's what I genuinely believe. Its hard to believe they would have chopped the italy goal off then. There was nothing wrong with it. I do think UEFA want certain clubs at the championships but scotland are an attraction aswell and with the fans we take we would make a lot of money for the switz and austrian economy.
PrideAndPassion 0
I do think UEFA want certain clubs there, but yesterday was just another example of Scotland's woeful luck in international football, i think we should just give up now!! We lose a late goal, Israel score a late goal to help England, and you just know that they will make it through now, making our exit 100 times worse! I didn't really expect Scotland to go through, and it was still a great campaign that could set us up for a really good world cup campaign, but i was looking forward to a summer of just watching football instead of listening to the usual pish from those southern wankers on tv
Gribz 917
Gazza, Gribz, Jonc, Cammy, Frankie and others would do a better job than Uefa. Not sure what to think about that but i know none of us would break there legs
Wija 0
Personally I think it had something to do with Princess Diana's death! If you also watch the linesman when Hutton is assaulted, he waves his flag and points for an Italy Free Kick. The ref is not really to blame - he may have been unsighted. Also where was the defence when they took the freekick. And why is no one saying McFadden should have won it for us 2 minutes earlier. If he had scored that one with his right foot rather than change his step to try and take it with his left we would be going through. No conspiracy, only lunacy from a linesman and poor finishing on our part has robbed us.
pete 2,499
I am going to be really honest. When i was watching live i thought Hutton had realised he had lost the ball and tried to shoulder his way back onto the ball. I can actually see why the ref gave the decision. It was only when i saw the replay that i thought it was a foul for Scotland. Even now i think Hutton tried a shoulder charge but lost out because the Italian was at full gallop.

Doesn't make any difference Pete - the Italian did not shoulder charge him but barged him off the ball. Worst case scenario in that event last night should have been a throw in to either team (forget who got last touch). How anyone can suggest that it could be a free-kick to Italy is beyond me. Even though Hutton seemed like he was losing the ball (and I agree I thought he was going to), he still was merely trying to protect it - but got bundled off it. Never was an Italian free-kick.

I agree with you in retrospect but my first thought at that moment was that hutton had committed the foul.

Gazza_8 233
I think Hutton played for a foul. He came off worst, was fouled himself and the rest is history. He does it all the time for Rangers and now Scotland.

I think Hutton had an exceptional game and is definately going to be one of the best right backs in europe if he keeps going the way he is.I'll just be glad to have watched him in a Rangers Jersey before he heads of to pastures new.
