Looks like England are going to appoint a bloody German as their national manager Thomas Tuchel

Its an interesting one, I like Tuchel. I thought this started as a media spin to trigger Man Utd to making a move for him so its surprising. Tuchel is probably putting the middle finger to Germany as well as he wasnt ever getting that job as they are waiting for Klopp after Nagelsman.

Obviously Pep used his people behind the scenes to say he wasnt interested and the FA were never convinced with Howe or Potter.

Well their supporters won't be able to sing that offensive song about ten German bombers anymore!

Germans don't get offended about it, so why are you?

I bet people said similar things about our songbook when MoJo signed.  😉

Not the same and you know it. I'm offended because it implies only English fought the Germans; Scottish, Welsh and NI fans don't sing it as far as I know. The MoJo thing was just pure banter so it was.

We've sung a slightly different version on various recent trips to Germany.

"RAF of Britain...".

Here are the Scotsman readers’ twenty best uncapped Scottish footballers.

Andy Ritchie, Morton.

Chic Charnley, Thistle.

John McMaster, Aberdeen.

Neale Cooper, Aberdeen.

Gordon Wallace, Dundee.

Craig Brewster, Dundee Utd.

Bobby Russell, Rangers.

John Brown, Rangers.

Alex Rae, Sunderland.

John McGovern, Forest.

Alan Gordon, Heart, Hibs.

Kevin McAllister, Falkirk/Hibs.

Alex Edwards, Dunfermline/Hibs

Bobby Cox, Dundee.

Stephen Dobbie, QoS.

Hamish McAlpine, Dundee Utd.

Ralph Milne, Dundee Utd.

Jim Duffy, Dundee.

Billy Stark, Aberdeen.

Tommy Bryceland, St Mirren.

Cox, Edwards, Russell and Brown were unlucky not to be capped. Some fine players among the rest, Bryceland in particular, but mostly old-style B International material.

You could make a decent team from this pool of players.

John Brown should have been capped.

I seem to recall Ralph Milne being a pretty good winger in a top Dundee Utd team.

Unfortunately for Billy Stark and Jim Duffy - they had some serious competition.

I remember Hamish McAlpine just at the end of his career and you guys can confirm if he was better than Alan Rough and Henry Smith??

Craig Brewster should not be on the list.

The most under capped player was Davie Robertson - he was streets ahead of Tosh McKinlay.

On ESPN the other day Steve Nicol and Craig Burley were asked their top 5 Scottish players of all time - they found it impossible. Denis Law and Dalglish was Nicols top 2 but after that he was in double figures in seconds.

Aye.

Better than Smith, more solid than Rough without Rough’s ability to make the occasional impossible save. Can’t remember what he was like at saving penalties but he was good at taking them.
