Resurgent Aberdeen are to make changes to Pittodrie that could dramatically slash away attendances. The Dons, who are guaranteed European group stage football, have seen a record in season ticket sales and are looking at ways of growing their home attendances further. The club have announced plans to remove the current fixed division in the South Stand that would allow them to reduce away capacities and increase their home support by up to 1,000 seats. It could see visiting attendances cut from around 1700 to anything as low as 300. It has come as the Red Army have been left frustrated by a lack of away numbers at certain grounds, like at Hearts and Rangers, in recent seasons.Aberdeen chief executive Alan Burrows said: “There has been a huge amount of excellent work undertaken by AFC staff over the last few years on engaging with supporters and making match days at Pittodrie more noisy and more colourful and improving the atmosphere.“We will continue to engage with all stakeholders to try and build on that, whilst maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone. Our plans for the South Stand are very much an extension of that desire. We want even more Aberdeen fans coming to Pittodrie in the best seats, cheering the team on. The fence has not only proved a visible hindrance for fans in that area, but it has also not allowed us any flexibility to try and maximise attendances.“This work will also have the added benefit of increasing the catering provisions in the South Stand by 25%, which we hope will further reduce queues and waiting times in that area for specific games.”Aberdeen’s stance on away tickets is likely to be set for what their support gets in return at away grounds. An Aberdeen statement added: “Whilst we hope the changes above will help continue the upwards trajectory of our home attendances and drive-up revenues, it is also our intention to hold discussions with some of our SPFL Premiership colleagues about reciprocal allocations in hope of a fair and equitable number for our brilliant away supporters. The outcome of that will play one part in the away allocations we set at Pittodrie going forward.”Aberdeen have now got around 12,000 season ticket holders and have announced that another 200 places will also be made available for the Red Shed from this upcoming season. It will see the attendance of the Merkland Stand increased to 2095.

Pittodrie is a toilet, only one stand, the Dick Donald is deserving of a license.

Appalling sight lines, insufficient toilet provision, rusting seat frames bolted to crumbling concrete over 40 years ago, ................ etc. When you think Falkirk were denied promotion because Brockville was in such a state of disrepair, three of the stands at the hill of dung should be closed. The SPFL should take action, but they won't.

Burrows pushes at an open door, highlighting Rangers and Hearts as treating the Dandies unfairly. I note Burrows has assured ra Sellik that they will receive their normal ticket allocation for the second fixture of the coming season. Burrows knows further advancement is dependent upon continuing to tongue Peter's ring.

I could sort of understand Hearts or Hibs doing this but Aberdeen has such a shit home support. They will reduce the away support seats while still failing to come close to selling out the home sections. God I despise that pig pen of a club.

That's Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Celtc and Aberdeen all had shots at cutting our allocation.

Doesn't bother me one bit, as I wouldn't give any of them a penny anyway.

This is in no doubt them pressuring diddy teams to cut us out because we wont give them the broomloan. No coincidence IMO.
