[FT] Rangers 2 (Tavernier 6pen; Dessers 15) - 1 Servette

Before anyone gets carried away, it's worth considering we have two weeks to get from what we've seen so far from an experimental team of newbies that hasn't won a single competitive game, to a team capable of beating the teams that finished second in the Belgian league and second in the Swiss league. We should be able to go through, it's whether (as always) the challenge comes too soon for a rebuilt squad with no experience playing together.

On Wednesday against Olympiacos, we need to start fielding something like our presumed best team and kick into touch the "minutes for everyone" approach.

I suspect that is exactly what will happen

Champions league is just a bad name for the thing, id love to see a run in the EL rather than getting rolled in the CL, however, id take a pounding in the CL for the $$$ if it comes down to it.

And speaking on the WS, i always find it funny when the American pro team is crowned "world champs".  However there are no SEC championships outside of the United states so we at least have that.

Last I read was that if we fail in either qualification round, we will enter the EL group phase afterwards. Both side are beatable, but we, much like them, are not playing at full throttle yet, hence IMHO these early quali rounds are utter rubbish, and have been for years.

I don't understand why we have to play these qualification rounds when we were Europa finalists just two years ago.

... some might argue, that we (again) threw it away.

Aye it's been over a year now to reflect on that season and really, it should've been an all timer: League, SFA Cup and UEL.

Especially when you look at the manner of our points dropped, the 5 sub rule and just the general quality of the spfl.

It's been said before but if Morelos and Roofe are fit from February through to May we probably win a treble. Or even if Gio let Sakala out of the basement.
