I don't think there's much to choose between them but being the second worst fullback isn't really much of a recommendation.

Of course, however Tav has always been a target for the boo boys with way too much criticism, Tav to me has been terrific for Rangers. If we can replace any player who is better than what we have then we should

I think Tav has rightly been showered in much praise for his forward play and his incredible goal tally. He's a hall of fame inductee and has won many POTY awards. So I don't think he's been unduly criticised. However, he's a defender and his defensive play had often been found wanting - that's almost universally accepted and it's the aspect of his game that fully justifies the criticism he has received. It time to move on.

I note with the interest that TAA has shifted positions for Liverpool. A player that is lauded for his offensive play but often criticised for his defending. Has anyone seen any games in this new position?

Yes TAA has been excellent the last few games, his passing range is tops. I did wonder if MB would move Tav forward.

Klopp is trying him as an inverted FB - a la Zinchenko, Cancelo, etc.

His creative output is terrific, but they've still not sorted out the structure to cover him, IMO.

There's usually a price to pay for trying to arrange a team around the needs of one player. I've a feeling that's the situation at Liverpool and would be the case if we moved Tavernier into an attacking midfield role.

Sometimes, but in Liverpool's case they're not fixing the structure in defence; they are only using two CBs. Teams like Arsenal and Man City use situational back-threes to utilise an inverted FB. Combine that with disjointed pressing from the front players and it's a real issue.

It's moot, anyway, because I don't think Tavernier has the skill-set to play in midfield; he doesn't have the close control or short passing of TAA. Tavernier's skill-set is his crossing, running and getting into the box, which is more of a winger or second-striker's skill-set, not a central midfielder.

Nor indeed a fullback.
