What a player always worth the admission money but now he’s getting a little criticism in some of today’s papers for saying he became a tad aroused when he had his arm around the great lady Thatcher, yes a true character sadly a thing missing from today’s game .

I greatly admired Mrs Thatcher but not to that extent.

 

The great thing about Gazza in addition to his superb footballing skills was his willingness to run and labour for the whole ninety minutes. No flitting in and out of the game for him.

A generational talent for sure, Gazza that is !  What a player.  That said, when thinking about Gazza it still saddens me how Scotland lost their own generational talent in Durrant, and most of Scotland very weirdly celebrates the fact.

I watched a documentary on him last week. 

Great footballer.

Tragic character flaws.

As a person he reminds me a lot of Mickie Mantle. 

At one point the best in the world at his sport, bum knees, alcoholism, the press...money wasted...lost.

So many of these guys are just used up.

A fabulous footballer but a sad and pitiful person who wouldn't have received a fraction of the tolerance afforded him had it not been for his football fame.
