Gribz 842
Back to the internationals this weekend. The Ukraine game is huge and must be looked at as a cup final. The squad once again looks a bit thin in midfield with Fletcher, Hartley and Quashie all out through injury. Scotland squad Goalkeepers: Gordon (Sunderland), Marshall (Norwich), McGregor (Rangers) Defenders: Alexander (Burnley), Caldwell (Celtic), Dailly (West Ham), Hutton (Rangers), McEveley (Derby), McManus (Celtic), Naysmith (Sheffield United), Weir (Rangers) Midfielders: Brown (Celtic), Ferguson (Rangers), McCulloch (Rangers), Pearson (Derby), Robson (Dundee United), Teale (Derby) Forwards: Beattie (West Brom), Boyd (Rangers), McFadden (Everton), Maloney (Aston Villa), Miller (Derby), O'Connor (Birmingham). I thought Pearson did well when he came on against France so may start this weekend. But if we can win this then we are set up nicely. Id take a dire 1-0 win in any way just to still be in with a chance. Tough team selection but id play: ________________Gordon_____________ Hutton____McManus____Weir____Naysmith Pearson____Brown____Ferguson____McCulloch ___________Miller____McFadden_________
Hurlock 0
_____________________________Gordon_________________________________ Hutton___________McManus_______________Weir_________________Alexander Brown_____________Ferguson_____________Caldwell___________Maloney/Robson __________________________________________Mcculloch__________________ _______________________McFadden________________________________________ I'd imagine there will be five in midfield again though because Ukraine are dangerous but we'll see. It would be nice to see Maloney given a chance but I'd imagine he'll only make the bench.
Gazza_8 233
Please no Caldwell in midfield. He ran about like a headless chicken against SA at Pittodrie. He's absolute fuckin' rank! Hartley is out with a sore hammie but I doubt if he was in the running for a starting place. Is Fletcher injured/suspended? I hope wee Maloney gets a chance. He made the difference against Lithuania when he came on and I'd rather a natural left footer plays at LB. Naysmith for me. McFadden is a cert to start but who'll partner him is anyones guess.
juffery 0
Did Gribz not say McFadden was injured? The include him in his team? Caldwell is a definate no-no - he's a donkey!!! Fletcher is suspended and with Hartley and Quashie out as well, midfield is looking very bare. ------------------------Gordon Hutton------McManus----Weir---------------Alexander McCulloch----Brown----------Ferguson-----------Maloney -----------------Boyd--------------O'Connor Think we have to go with two up top. I like Alexander, think he's always done well for us. If he does decide to go with a holding midfielder, I would rather see Daily in than Caldwell.
Gribz 842
Sorry chaps meant to put Fletcher instead of McFadden. Agree with Gav - No way can Caldwell play in midfield. Id rather have Dailly than Caldwell. I noticed Dailly got a recall, he must be getting a game at Southampton. Is Maloney playing regularly for Villa? If so id have him in the team.
juffery 0
In that case I would have Mcfadden up front with Boyd

Gribz 842
Fletcher aint even in the squad..... he's suspended i think. No he's injured. He came off against france then Pearson came on. He hasnt played for Man U since that either.
juffery 0
Aye but I'm pretty sure he's suspended for the Ukraine game anyway. Got booked for a foulon Vera before he came off.
Gribz 842
He would have been a miss then but Pearson did well when he came on and Brown can play in Fletchers role. Ive just looked at the fixtures, Italy are at home to Georgia and France go to the Faroe's so i can only see them both taken 3 points so this game is a muct win. As I said earlier id take any win in any way.
