Bill 13,717
Pele was peerless. Such grace over the ground and in the air. More than just an incredible talent, he brought beauty to playing football. There may have been a better football player before him but I know few have even come close since. A true wonder, all Brazil will mourn his passing and celebrate his memory, as will people all round the world who remember him in his playing days.
Scott7 6,168
Pele or Puskas? Pele was by far the better athlete and as Bill so rightly says, it was all so gracefully done. Then come the rest of the half dozen or so absolute greats
onevision 1,595
The Brazilian side of 1970 was when i fell in love with football. Pele's attempt from the halfway line, his header that brought out the best save i've ever witnessed, his dummy on the keeper that almost lead to a goal etc etc.... R.I.P and thank you to the greatest player in my lifetime.
MacK1950 2,399
Was listening to the news about the great man when I told the wife that I seen him in a friendly v Scotland where he and Billy Bremner had a FRIENDLY!! battle, with Bremner grabbing Pele by the hair at one stage. Has stuck in my memory ever since and it is sad to hear of the passing of the great man.

buster. 5,257
Came to football a little late (first WC I remember is 74) and only saw (on TV) Pele play in a New York Cosmos shirt. My enduring memory of the man is his tireless smile, at least when in front of a camara. Excelled as a footballing ambassador and was certainly the best ever in that role. Aside All of the 74 Brazil squad played for Brazilian clubs. Only 3 in 2022 and they were hardly seen on the pitch.
