Laudbertz 0
I thought Hutton had a great game, especially going forward, but I remember 2 or 3 times where he was caught flat-footed or napping. We weren't punished, but him and McGregor were making me very nervous at 1-0. I felt we got very lucky with 2 or 3 of McGregor's decisions, but overall had a good game.
pete 2,499
Sorry Frankie but I have to disagree. I haven't watched the 2nd half yet but there were certainly a couple of occasions int he first half where, yet again, he allowed himself to be pulled too narrow and then we found oirselves in danger as a ball was pushed over the top of him to a player (Grosso) who had about 10-15 yards of space. Hutton still has a tendency to be pulled narrow - last season it was being put down to him having to cover poor CB's - but this season that same excuse can't be made. Don't get me wrong I am a BIG fan of Hutton - he has a great engine and it amazes me the stamina he has to get up and down the flank for 90 mins but he still does have weaknesses. Johnny... regarding his contribution for the 1st and 2nd goals more than making up for his mistakes... I disagree. On another day his contribution would have resulted in no goals but his mistakes would have resulted in us being 2 or 3 goals down. Even Alan Hutton would prefer to see the mistakes he makes - because without realising your mistakes you can't eradicate them. But WOW - what a result !! Agree totally Craig if he let's McGeady do that to him with McDonald and Vinegar in the middle it will be toilet paper at the ready. he has to know of these mistakes so as he can improve to be the player we think he is. He is the best back in Scotland but he could become world class with the proper coaching.
gisabeer 409
I can't believe some of the criticism Hutton is receiving by some guys on here, the boy was superb, again, tonight and could go on to become the best right back Rangers have ever had,IMO,considering his age and the way he has improved in the last year.Thomson was excellent as well, his best game for Rangers, but the whole team deserve huge amount of praise for a truly outstanding performance tonight,I thought BF was probably our worst player, and i'm a big BF fan,but tonight is not about picking out one player, good or bad, let's just thank the whole team for a wonderful performance in the CL away from home against the French champions,W.A.T.P. hutton had a few shaky moments at the back but he more than made up for it with his runs down the wing. Thompson too did alright but i think were going overboard with some of the ratings. most of the team had a shocker in the first half. if you want to give anyone high marks then give them to walter and the backroom staff, for whatever they said or put in the tea at half time transformed them into a totally different team.
ascender 352
I felt we got very lucky with 2 or 3 of McGregor's decisions, but overall had a good game. I'm old fashioned and like to see keepers catching the ball whenever possible. It always used to be the continental keepers who would favour punching or palming the ball away but its slowly crept in to the British game over the last 10-15 years. As someone who used to play in goal and at CB, it just makes me really nervous and I thought we rode our luck a bit last night. Which you need in Europe to be honest.

Agree on that i believe in getting your body behind the ball and i always tried to catch the ball. BUT!! As you say used to. With modern football boots being able to put much more effect on the ball as in my\our day and the far lighter balls which dip and move in the air far more there is a case for punching. You still do see many balls the keeper should catch though if they let it come on to their chest.
ian1964 10,720
Any winning team needs luck, but you've got to work hard for your luck and that is precisely what we did,so IMO we deserved the luck and the win.
CammyF 8,007
Run DMB for me - he was outstanding last night - brilliant corner for Lee Mc's goal, fine, defence splitting ball for Hutton for the 2nd and a fantastic finish for the 3rd. Whosthedado 1,680
It's hard to pick an MotM. Every single player played their heart out. Hemdani would probably get my vote
