Correct. Was Lawrence Marlborough our wealthiest ever owner? Even he had to turn off the tap after a few years.

I was too busy running around after a ball, then burdz, then a green beret, then the y train during those years to get a handle on upstairs.

Did he not bankroll Holmes/Souness or perhaps have the clout to persuade a bank to do it?

Don't think so, mate. That was funded by bank overdraft, secured on the club's property (stadium and Albion).

Was'nt Murray's purchase of us mainly simply a case of him taking over the overdraft rather than a cash purchase?

Don't think so. According to the MIH accounts, the purchase price was £5.4m, plus there didn't seem to be any cross-guarantees between Rangers and the Murray group at that point. The overdraft was still secured on the club's assets so MIH didn't take on any responsibility for it.

I think we definitely need new blood in the boardroom and an injection of funds.  For me this rests on whether it is hostile or not.  After the horrific experiences of 10 years ago I am wary.  What guarantees are there that we won't be duped again?

Anyone putting money into the club will want a say on how things are run. That will undoubtedly mean place(s) on the board
