ian1964 10,720
GOALKEEPER Roy Carroll yesterday pulled out of the Northern Ireland squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Latvia and Iceland to concentrate on rebuilding his career at Rangers. The former Manchester United shotstopper made his decision after talking to international manager Nigel Worthington. Carroll, who moved to Ibrox in the summer after a difficult time at West Ham, will remain on standby but Celtic's Michael McGovern has been drafted into the squad. Looks like the big guy is bursting to get playing for the Gers,I hope he has a long wait, only meaning that AMc will be playing well by that comment. He's had a bit of a nightmare in recent seasons, but IMO he's a good keeper and still relatively young
Laudbertz 0
Yeah i saw on SSN last night that he pulled out of the club due to 'club commitments'.... which seems strange to me. Like you say though, i hope he has a long wait too. I dont see AM loosing his place anytime soon.
bmck 117
aye, he seems quite optimistic, given amcg's form.
juffery 0
Yo9u would have thought he would have been eager to get some match practice. A good performance will stick in Walter's mind.
eightball 0
Carroll's has had his problems over the past few years, and I think he has done the correct thing with NI. He has withdrawn from the two away trips to Latvia and Icelend to stay in Glasgow and try to sharpen up. He is by no means first pick for club of country, so he has to try his best to impress the Rangers staff. AFAIK there are 'bounce' games scheduled for the next week, so perhaps he'll get a chance to show them what he can do. As an NI fan I am saddened that he hasn't linked up with the squad, but I can understand his reasons, and I have to respect them.
