compo 7,043
Just been reading that UEFA them that are in charge of European football are about to make an announcement in relation to a salary cap , maybe they see that FFP is a joke but telling a company how much you can pay your employees and that's all players are is a bigger joke .
Rousseau 10,630
I've always been in favour of a cap, but, to be honest, I have no idea how it would be implemented.
Bill 13,717
A salary cap has to be the most retrograde proposal yet. Who do these people at UEFA think they are? The world is drowning in self-important bureaucrats.
onevision 1,571
These fucking idiots have absolutely not a snowballs chance of successfully implementing this.
Franc Ergs 1,651
Uefa will set out proposals next month to replace its Financial Fair Play rules with a salary cap and luxury tax by next year. Under the planned system, clubs in European competition would be limited to spending a fixed percentage of their revenue — possibly 70 per cent — on salaries. Any clubs breaching the cap would have to pay a luxury tax, under which the equivalent or more of any overspend would go into a pot to be redistributed.

ChelseaBoy 2,441
Have to dig Jimmy Hill up to fight this foolishness. Are we going to have salary caps for all professional sport? I can see this going to court and another defeat for Uefa.
RANGERRAB 3,671
Clubs will find other ways to pay players.
Biblio 148
It is a good idea in principle, no club should be paying more than it can afford and when they do it distorts the competition, but it can be easily abused. It was tried in rugby league and the big clubs were and are able to get round it. Wigan employed a player's wife as a secretary on exhorbitant wages for instance.

I never understand why principle is so ignorant of practice. It is a rubbish idea in both principle and practice.
