9 of Ally's 21 goals were where Rangers scored 10 or more goals or aggregate against the likes of Valetta and Gi Gotu. Another was the 4th in a 4-0 win. Another 2 were penalties.

Ally managed 2 goals in European group stages. Alfredo has managed 6.

Ally scored important European goals against Boavista, Kiev, Gornik, Leeds and Grasshoppers over 14 seasons.

Alfredo has scored important European goals against Osijek, Maribor, Rapid Vienna, Midtjylland, Legia, Porto, Feynoord, Young Boys and Lech Poznan over 3 seasons, some of whom were in the Champions League either the previous or following seasons.

Alfredo's European goal scoring record is arguably far better than Ally's.

Hasn’t Morelos now got 9 in group stages? ?

I thought the issue last night in that first half was the poor press.

We clearly wanted to let them play from the back, as they were supposedly poor playing out.

The problem was it was only the front three that pressed; the midfield didn't, so they were able to pass through the press.

Second half we utilised a mid block, which worked better.

The main thing is we won but a performance to forget

Correct.

The $55 000 Dollar Question, however,  is

Will good performances follow on from good -winning- results OR

Will poor performances be caught out and poor results ensue ??

At the day's end it will be results that bring trophies not displays

The comparison is still just unfair, so I don't like it. The vast majority of Ally's European appearances were against champions. He played against the champions of Italy, Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, England, Russia, Belgium etc, and as we know Rangers badly struggled to challenge those sides. Unlike today, our managers just couldn't crack Europe, and part of that was probably just that opposition were the cream of each country and just stronger than we face in the Europa League today.

That is not a slight on Alfie's European record for one second. 6 of his goals have been against Gibraltan part timers but the rest have been very valuable goals against good teams. I just don't see the value in comparing it to a different time when we played in very different competition.
