Aberdeen and Celtic players break Covid quarantine rules

Recommended Posts

Has the SPFL actually a protocol, guideline or rules whipped up for such cases? That is ... what shall we do with active and irresponsible behaviour of players and consequently clubs? So far only Sturgeon has imposed the usual 14 day quarantine (or the like) on both clubs, but ... if Bolingoli did as the police has now verified, did Celtic actually field an ineligible player (remember Legia) for the game (and even worse, endangering another club's players along the way)?

I reckon the wires between Lennoxtown and Pacific Quay are red hot ...

NB ... as  far as I can see, there are strict regulations in the SPFL rules with regard to Covid-19 et al (pages 279ff in this pdf-file https://spfl.co.uk/admin/filemanager/images/shares/pdfs/SPFL Rules and Regulations 30-Jul-20 (MASTER COPY) CLEAN.pdf ) .. but nothing is being said about any penalties or punishments.

I don't think that they fielded an ineligible player. The player apparently tested negative, which is what's required under the SPFL rules. The self-isolation rules are not football rules and therefore no rules have been broken.

The player wasn't ineligible.  He appears to have breached the government quarantine advice (not sure about the legalities) though.  And it's unlikely no one at Celtc knew about that when he took to the pitch on Sunday.

Depends on what source you believe as some are saying it was a club car that picked him up at the airport.
