Rangers appoint DUP councillor as Head of Communications and Media Relations

The Roman Catholic church protects itself by banning catholics from joining the OO or the Masons, Islam protect themselves by insisting that you believe in the Quaran and Mohammad, the Hindus insist that you believe moksha, enlightenment, unites the individual soul with Brahman.
What is wrong with the Orange Order insisting that the organization is based on the Reformed faith?

Can a person not have their own faith and yet still perform a professional job?

The OO is not a religion though.

Was that not clear enough?

Is the OO discriminating against Catholics? It’s not complicated. What’s your view? Yes or No?

Other religious people would also choose not to marry a person of another faith.  Should that be a question during job interviews at Ibrox?  Or is it only a concern when it's a Protestant applicant?

It's irrelevant.

Do you know what his remit is?

Why don't you read what I've posted in this thread Stevie and see if you can figure out the answer to that yourself.

People may have their opinions on religion/associated groups as a whole or it may vary between them but regards how it ties into the appointment of David Graham, it´s about loose and general perceptions formed by the watching punters. If it´s only down to the obvious partisan viewpoints then it´s a never ending tit for tat exchange of views. however, the issue is that there is an issue.

You´d think that the club must have had a good idea what would come down the road after his appointment but you wonder given that after putting so much effort and resource into the excellent Everyone, Anyone Initiative,...This appointment presented the media a shooty-in chance to belittle the good work.

The understandable reaction from some that points towards detractors/media and says we´ll get lambasted regardless of what we do so f*** them only keeps us in a place where our enemy wants us to be, one where it´s shooty-in for them to isolate us, further weaken us.... But it could be argued that this has quickly become relatively unimportant as football clubs face financial challenges at a time when the whole society does, hence if it got really bad, making it more complicated for widespread financial support from a fanbase .

In these strange and potentially game-changing times it becomes much more difficult to see into the future. Many boardrooms will be weighing up circumstances as they contemplate priorities/significant moves and perhaps what is always the most important communication, between the club and fans, will become even moreso.

In other words regards this thread, the apointment could actually be brilliant and far-sighted or another myopic OG. Only time will tell....

I think Buster's point is that so much of the comments so far simply reflect the prior views of the commentator and have little relevance to any value that Graham brings to Rangers ..... and that pre-judging the appointment is both futile and possible counter-productive. With any luck, if he's as effective as we'd like him to be then we'll seldom if ever hear his name mentioned.
