SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)

Recommended Posts

Some reports now that the EPL will be resuming in June, with matches played behind closed doors, so players there starting a mini pre season in May.

UEFA are looking to schedule the remaining European games for August.

Are closed doors games an option in our league? , or have they been ruled out altogether ?

SPFL chief Murdoch MacLennan is set to order a probe into Dundee’s mystery email.

SunSport understands the league chairman has decided they need to investigate the circumstances of how it supposedly went missing during last Friday’s vote.

And that could even involve asking to check Dens Park secretary Eric Drysdale’s email account to provide time stamps.

The issue of what happened as the Tayside club tried to cast a decisive no ballot has become central to the fallout from the contentious vote to bring the current season to an end.

Dundee secretary Drysdale claimed in a WhatsApp group with Partick Thistle and Inverness representatives that he’d pressed send on the correspondence at 4.48pm - but it didn’t arrive with the league.

Nelms then subsequently emailed to say disregard anything they received and consider his club as having not voted - a position he still maintains today.

MacLennan admitted in a statement on Sunday that Dundee’s slip DID arrive later that evening, but the league dismissed it in accordance with Nelms' instruction.

The events of what happened in between Drysdale sending and it actually landing in the SPFL inbox has caused huge ructions across the game.

Now MacLennan feels he needs to dig deeper into the issue in search of answers.

The SPFL chair on Sunday demanded to see the proof of wrongdoing Rangers have claimed to possess and is now expected to follow that up with a formal letter to interim chairman Douglas Park.

Lifted from FF: Brief Summary of Tonight's Meeting

As much as I can say Bears.

Another meeting tomorrow night at 5pm.

Rangers aren't letting up with the push for the public enquiry, or relaxing their demand for the suspensions of previously named persons.

This isn't going to be resolved overnight and we need to show a bit of patience, as frustrating as that may be.

It is also important that we don't allow them to play the victim card, which they are so desperate to do.

No matter how much you despise "the accused", please refrain from abusing them, especially in a sectarian way, on social media.

Don't give them any ammo to use against us that may allow them to dodge the accusations.

It's a bit like the old Jimmy Reid speech on the Clyde when the shipyards went on strike, if you know what I mean.

The club are 100% committed to fighting this, but we need to understand what they're up against and support them towards the end result we all want.

Sorry I can't elaborate any more on details at this stage, but that will come.

"There will be no hooligansm, there will be no vandalism and there will be no bevvying because the world is watching us...."

Jimmy Reid was a leader of men. A trait that is sadly lacking today as Joe Punter tends to get propagandized into a land where general independent cognitive ability tends to be moulded into the required shape.

Within the self-interested and narrow clusterf**k that is Scottish fitbaw, it´s a sad reflection on the fans that a third rate media still manage to hold so much influence. It makes any type of tactical or strategic move that Rangers might push for will feel like swimming against the tide with the added difficulty that we have very few natural allies, partly down to politics, partly our own fault or the way we have tended to play things over the past few years.

From geo-politics to the SPFL, all the controlling powerbases of various levels know the importance of trying to maintain control of the narrative. Sometimes when something consequential actually happens, after consuming much of the media, it would appear that it did not happen or that it was of little import.

So the SPFL meet again tonight....As the poster on FF says, patience is required.

Pity the likes of Jimmy Reid wasn´t still around with a message modified for the social media age.

I think Mearns Unionist's comment is quite clear - don't make sectarian comments about those Rangers want to see suspended and be patient.

You could have Hannibal or Alexander the Great telling us all what to do and you'd still have people not doing it on social media, such is the nature of that beast.

The obvious points are that closed door games won´t hold as much attraction for the Scottish League given the relatively high proportion that matchday income brings in. Nor would the clubs stand to lose as much money as the bigger leagues, if the league wasn´t completed.

That said, it remains to be seen how so many games are shorhorned into such a short period given ongoing circumstances.

Pre season

League 19/20

European 19/20

European 20/21 qualifiers and group organisation

League 19/20

Scottish Cup 19/20

League Cup 20/21 (only competition with sponser ?)

Euros 2021 will require domestic season not to go on further than May 2020

Something has got to give and for eventual answers, study the finances (follow the money)

I was moreso pointing towards the lack of real leadership.

You, me or the next man saying the obvious aint the same.

Rangers supporters can't agree about what colour our away strip should be or what tunes get played on supporters buses.  My point was that even the greatest leaders in human history couldn't unite us all...on anything (except Celtc are a despicable club, maybe).

As the old saying goes: "Two Rangers' Supporters......three opinions".

What planet is MacLennan on and what credibility does he think he has left? At the weekend he exonerated Doncaster and Laidlaw of any wrongdoing and said that everything had been done properly. A not so polite "Shut up and fuck off while we wait for Dundee to hand in their Yes vote after they accept whatever crumbs fall of our table." Now, at the threat of an interim interdict from Partick Thistle, he says "Oh we might have to have a look at what happened on Friday after all."

Perhaps he is planning that the SPFL should employ the same investigators who are going through the emotional carnage generated by Celtic Boys Club on behalf of its Separate Entity - so that after a lengthy and uncommitted search through the long grass we'll still have no answers in 3 years time.

The sooner this useful idiot is shown the door the better.
