Been looking at potential opponents if we get to the last 32. There are what may be somewhat easier ties available but I would love to draw Man Utd. I suspect that may get Gerrard salivating too.

I’m scared to get ahead of myself? However, can you imagine the atmosphere at Ibrox :rfcbouncy:

Yes indeed, it was electric for Porto and that would raise it to stratospheric. Obviously Stevie wants to beat anybody we face but them? Has to be yet another level for him from a personal perspective. As I said there are easier draws but there are harder ones too. Man Utd would satisfy me.

If we get into the knockout stages, I want the biggest glamour tie possible, even if that means less chance of progressing.  I want to see us testing ourselves against the very best in Europe.  Man Utd would be an awesome tie for many reasons, but there are others in there too.

Wolves in the final would be good.

Last 32: Man Utd (SG would love it)

Last 16: Inter Milan (major scalp)

Last 8: Zenit (Retribution now that we can score goals as well as defend)

Semi: Celtic (It would be epic and them getting a run would mean Thurs/Sunday for them as well)

Final: Arsenal (Tierney can emulate his heroes from Seville and pick-up a runners-up medal)

I suspect you continue to wear that green rag on your napper?

If the above occurs, I'll wear the green rag too.

Those days are long gone but I still have my old field beret as a keepsake.

I'll bring it with me and give it to you in Gdansk next May.

We've now won 6 European home games on the bounce this season.

When was the last time we did that ?

(clue: it was over several seasons).

Was a difficult question..............

Answer spanned several managers, from John Greig to Graeme Souness,...started in 1981 from when we won 10 European home  games on the bounce until Borussia Mönchengladbach forced a draw in 1986.

It was unusual in that it included five ties that we lost despite the home victory.

1981–82 Cup Winners' Cup 1R Czechoslovakia Dukla Prague 2–1
1982–83 UEFA Cup 1R West Germany Borussia Dortmund 2–0
2R West Germany 1. FC Köln 2–1
1983–84 Cup Winners' Cup 1R Malta Valletta 10–0
2R Portugal Porto 2–1
1984–85 UEFA Cup 1R Republic of Ireland Bohemians 2–0
2R Italy Internazionale 3–1
1985–86 UEFA Cup 1R Spain Osasuna 1–0
1986–87 UEFA Cup 1R Finland Ilves 4–0
2R Portugal Boavista 2–1
3R West Germany Borussia Mönchengladbach 1–1
