Lovenkrands is back!

Recommended Posts

He had plenty of poor games through the middle in the SPL. He uses his pace to get behind the defence and if there is a 10 man defence in the box, how does that work?

It sometimes worked in Europe as we were playing on the break on many occasions, same with Celtic games.

Lovenkrands excelled, as most players do, when he had decent players playing beside him. Watch the videos / dvds of his time at Rangers and players like Numan, Fergie, De Boer, Caneggia knew how to get the best out of Lovenkrands.

Didn't help that AM thought of Lovenkrands as a left winger / left midfield player, something that he never was. Left in a front 3 (successfull there in AM's first season and a bit) or through the middle (AM's last CL campaign).

As far as I am aware, I cannot remember PL being deployed thro the middle for any sustained period in the SPL.

But given how poor the current team is do you really think he would excel with those players beside him ?

That is what I, and I believe Gribz are getting at - the standard of player has dropped dramatically and most have bought the myth from Murray.

I cannot believe that any Rangers fan is more impressed by Burke, Adam, Gow, Broadfoot etc than players like Peter Lovenkrands.

Well done Mr Murray, you have sold the nightmare to the majotiry.

I agree with this if Adam, Burke etc had been in the reserves during the trophy laden 90's they wouldn't have got in the reserve team never mind the first 11. Also if yiou had said to us then that the 'star' summer signings would have been from Falkirk and St Mirren we would have laughed. Oh how times have changed

Big Eck also played Shota Arveladze as a left winger. What a waste we had a world star and didn't know how to play him. Like my Dad always said" give Rangers a world beater and we will ruin him".
