Even though the fans were guilty the club should challenge this one.

None of us would object to a fine but it's the likely severity of the punishment that is the problem here. A club should have the chance to warn the fans that they may be forced to play behind closed doors if a song is sung. Nobody expected that. Especially when the same song went unpunished last season.

Now...so that I get this straight.

Ranger fans (not paid employees or official representatives of the club...fans) go to Poland, sing songs, and or engage in chants which are culturally insensitive to groups in the UK. These are the same songs the club (Rangers) have condemned...yet Rangers...the business are penalized for it?

Strict Liability under UEFA rules.  It is a glance at what would happen in Scotland under the SFA/SPFL if they brought in Strict Liability.

One of the admins on FF says that Rangers were informed on the evening of the St Joseph's game we were being reported, but were not informed of the punishment until 5pm on the night of the Legia game, giving the club no time to warn fans. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but that is very bad form from UEFA.

This is the timeline of events:

* The club were told by the UEFA delegate later in the evening after the St Patrick's game that we were being reported in their delegate report. FARE also reported us to UEFA, as they do in every match.
* The club was only informed what the punishment for the above would be at 5pm on the night of the Legia game.
* We were then reported again for the fans' behaviour at the Legia game. This was for singing in the second half and when the ground emptied.

The club had anticipated another fine and were caught off guard by the punishment for the first game, which gave them no time to warn fans in Legia.

Yes, the club could've communicated the initial charge to fans, but UEFA's timing is also poor in the extreme.

Are songs like Derry’s walls not possibly in breach of rules?

I don’t see how it can be? Our club has a Protestant heritage, and Ulster Scots connections. Some would say we should celebrate it rather than hide from it. The song is about the defence of Derry Protestants against an attacking catholic force. Cultural song and heritage. I think that was the opinion of a judge previously too?
