Gribz 850
Id take Mido. He was great in his first season at Spurs. Cant believe anyone would knock him back compared to our current options but really cant see him being linked. Id still want Koevermans more though.
Stefanovitch 0
Koevermans for me any day of the week and I'd rather have Balaban as well.

pete 2,499
Due to AZ bringing in new attacker's Koeverman is desperate to leave AZ. Unfortunately his agent said Rangers have dropped all interest in him and Stuttgart look like the favourites to open discussions for him.
fraser54 0
No wonder, we have no money at all. Am just waiting for our first money signing to come in
Whosthedado 1,680
This really is a depressing time to be a Ger. Who are we actually going to sign? At this rate and with the offers we are putting in for players there won't be anyone coming in at all. On Naismith though I have to say I would not pay anywhere near 2M for him, a million tops I would say. Celtic's bid should go in any day now

Celtic's bid should go in any day now Thing is though, he is a young kid and if he cost us 2 mill, we got him on a 5 yr deal and then he progresses as much as he has already then we could make PROFIT on him. Sorry but I believe that sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate. Scott Brown is a good example - IMO will end up generating a PROFIT for the Tims (excluding wages) because he will get more exposire at international level as well as in Europe for them in the next few years, he will progress as a player and in all likelihood will help them win things - IF he leaves them he will go for a profit IMO, which means he is good business for them. In the meantime we find ourselves scraping the Bosman barrel and invariably paying off contracts - sorry but I would rather pay a premium price for a Scott Brown or a Stephen Naismith with the hope that you will eventually sell them on at profit (or better yet see them progress professionally and see out their career at Rangers) than sign a foreign Bosman who simply doesn't produce and ends up COSTING you millions in paying off his contract.
Whosthedado 1,680
Yeah I see what your saying Craig. Another good example of speculate to accumulate if you like is with Elmander last year. If we had pushed the boat out a little and got him we probably would have sold him for at least double what we paid for him. Instead we went for the cheaper option in Mr Sebo:confused:

Thats the accountant talking in you Craig But i disagree on Brown. I cant see any English or European club coming in and handing Celtic a fee that makes them a profit. One of the reasons is coz they hold Scottish clubs to ransom for a start in the same way the OF try to be prudent with the other SPL clubs. If they thought he was that good in the first place AND a potential investment they would have snapped him up ahead of Celtic.

If they thought he was that good in the first place AND a potential investment they would have snapped him up ahead of Celtic. But Gribz.... did Celtic not make sell Petrov off for a tidy sum ? And he was also playing at Celtic. I think that Brown has as much potential as Petrov had (but maybe I am blinkered). I agree that the SPL gets held to ransom because of the quality of the league and its standing (was going to say the very same thing to Pete the other day when he mentioned Huntelaar, how much he cost Ajax and how much he would now command - he wouldn't command nearly as much if he had been at Rangers). But I think that Celtic could easily make profit on Brown in a couple of years time - he will have more exposure due to Europe and internationals. It is all hearsay for now but I would rather look at the bigger picture and what we could eventually see (sell a player for profit) as opposed to dealing in the bargain basement, make no money and then likely have to buy out their contracts, as has happened to us so many times in the past. Elmander is a good example of what I am getting at - and Huntelaar would be too. Quality is permanent and these guys would have made us a better team, gotten more exposure for themselves and possibly moved on at profit. Where we are dealing that isn't too likely.
