'badger ford', pronounced [aːʰ ˈpɾɯʰkʲ]) is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde and is part of the former Burgh of Govan.[1] Yes, now you say that I'd heard that before although for some reason I thought it has an Anglo-Saxon root. Maybe we should have played in black & white.
Bill 13,717
I wouldn't get too excited about ford versus fort. Gaelic orthography was only 'settled' relatively recently and disputes over spelling still exist between Stornoway orthodoxy and the likes of Skye, Mull, Islay, etc. There's no guarantee the derivation of Ibrox involved the term 'ath' at all, let alone which meaning it might carry.
