Barry Ferguson saying he wouldnt begrudge them it!

He's on the same path as his brother.  Gutter press merchants who are bitter because they think Rangers owe them a living.

Can you imagine the sniggering and laughing if we were to yield to this none sense! This lot would not know how to spell respect let acknowledge it. If the club bow to this I am sure everyone will be sick to the stomach.

That filthy club, their players, board members and followers despise us and would see our club dead. Not today, tomorrow or ever should we be discussing this madness? As for the usual suspects (Ferguson, Boys, Dalziel, Miller and co) they are all happy to stick the boot into the club for money when it suits them.

There’s always an upside. Rangers would have to take the field first to uproarious acclaim. Then celtic could walk out alone to a very suitable reception showing exactly what we think of their achievement.

Imagine silence. Imagine the Rangers players in two lines, all turning their backs when Celtic run on the park. Imagine 50000 Rangers fans turning their backs. Imagine only a bloody fool would sanction a guard of honour.

Gerrard also confirmed his side would not be giving their bitter Parkhead rivals a guard of honour when Neil Lennon's newly-crowned Ladbrokes Premiership champions cross the city for the final Old Firm derby of the season at Ibrox.

But the former Liverpool skipper insisted the final say came from the club - and not him.

To be honest with you my thoughts on it are not important on that subject,'' he said. The club have made a decision on that and decided there won't be a guard of honour, so my thoughts are irrelevant.

I will follow what I'm told to do by the people in charge of the club.'

ON GUARD

Celtic once agreed to give Rangers guard of honour before police vetoed it

CELTIC agreed to give Rangers a guard of honour in an Old Firm showdown 43 years ago as a 'recognition for champions’.But the players' applause at Parkhead before an Old Firm game was VETOED by the police. The final Glasgow derby of the season has been overshadowed by a row over whether Gers should line up and applaud the eight-in-a-row champions onto the Ibrox pitch.Rangers boss Steven Gerrard initially suggested he would talk about it with his board but SunSport later revealed it won’t happen.Gerrard himself took part in a Guard of Honour four years ago when he was Liverpool captain for a game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. But there is a precedent for it happening in Old Firm clashes, although you have to go back to 1976.That season, Rangers clinched the title with a 1-0 win at Dundee United on April 24 and faced Celtic two days later on a Monday night in a game that was rescheduled after being postponed the previous month. And the Hoops even suggested the gesture to honour Rangers, who had won their second title in a row.Sean Fallon was
acting Celtic manager for most of that season after Jock Stein had suffered serious injuries after a car crash.

He said at the time: "Rangers won the title by being the most consistent team in the country. "And we will give the champions their recognition before the game, in the same way as we would do to any other club coming to Parkhead having just won the title."

But Glasgow police chiefs then refused to give the go-ahead to the gesture amid concerns at the reaction of the 51,000 crowd that night.
The game passed without incident and finished in a goalless draw, with Jock Wallace's side going onto win the Treble that season.

Mark Dingwall asked our club historian ...
I a link to this thread to Bob McElroy the editor of the Rangers Historian and noted author on all things Rangers.
His response was simple “Didn’t happen.”

... and now Rod Stewart thinks Rangers act childish regarding that Guard of Honour and Celtic would gladly do it if roles were reversed. Yep, so they would ...
