What Motherwell did is probably against the "code of fair play" - held in high regard over at the Scumhut, as we all know - but if it is not adhered to (as the sample above with Raith proved) it is sure not "cheating". That said, accusing Motherwell players of cheating is quite a strong accusation and will yield far better headlines. But yahoos do seem to take it to extraordinary lengths on a regular basis. One wonders where they could have learned this.
