Replay ticket allocation

Recommended Posts

In the video gaming and certain book publishing industry there is a sytsem called "kickstarter". That is, people pledge to buy a game/copy/book in advance, money is being collected seperately and if the required amount is collected, the thing will be produced, published et al.

This is the 21st century, so Aberdeen fans can pledge their will to  attend by Sunday noon, deposit the money and we'll see how many have done that. They will be allocated accordingly and get their tickets electronically or on the day at the stadium, with say 200 more tickets for their block available for pay at the gate.

Aberdeen fan chief hits out at Rangers ticket allocation for Scottish Cup replay at Ibrox

Dons supporters won't receive a bigger allocation for the quarter-final tie due to crowd safety concerns

ABERDEEN fans have been left raging at their small Ibrox allocation for next week’s Scottish Cup replay.

The Dons have been given just 972 tickets for the match – the normal amount for away supporters.

But Scottish Cup rules state that they are entitled to up to 10,000 briefs for the match, with Ibrox holding 50,000 seats.

However after talks with Police Scotland, Rangers informed Reds chiefs that they would not be given an increased allocation.

Gers were handed less than 2,000 tickets for Sunday’s game at Pittodrie due to similar safety concerns.

But the decision doesn’t wash with Dons supporters who are desperate to attend the game as Derek McInnes’ side battle to keep their silverware hopes alive.

Granite City Aberdeen Supporters’ Club chief Derek Ledingham told the Daily Record: “It is the biggest game of the season for both Aberdeen and Rangers.

“With the best will in the world, Celtic are going to win the league and so the Scottish Cup offers the best chance for Aberdeen or Rangers to win anything this season.

“It is a big game and there are a lot of Aberdeen fans who are concerned they are not going to get tickets.

“Cup games always bring out more fans because they are bigger than league games.

“Last season we took 1,500 to the replay at Kilmarnock and I know we would have easily taken that again down to Ibrox, so it is disappointing we are getting less than 1,000 tickets.”

The small army of travelling Aberdeen fans will be housed in the North West corner of the stadium for Tuesday’s quarter-final replay.

Have they gone mad? They cut Rangers allocation for league matches which they can do although its only for bitterness, yet for the cup match they have shot themselves in the foot for income by trying to be smart. After doing this what exactly did they expect RFC to do for the replay?

The only worry is if the replay allows 50/50 split of cash because there will still be over 40000 bears in the home support.
