Security called after Rangers player Ryan Jack abused in bar

The 26-year-old was forced to leave Soul Bar in Aberdeen before an altercation broke out.

Security was called after Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack was abused in a bar in Aberdeen.

The 26-year-old was forced to leave Soul Bar after nearby drinkers started singing and hurling abuse at the midfielder.

Door stewards were then called to deal with an altercation after Jack left the premises.

It came just a week after the Aberdeen-born midfielder scored the winning goal to defeat Celtic in the derby.

Paul Clarkson, a director of PB Devco, which owns Soul, said: "A large crowd gathered and people mainly started singing towards Ryan then hurled abuse.

"Ryan and his family took themselves away from the situation and left the bar.

"An altercation then occurred with those who were involved in the abuse and the door stewards intervened.

"There was a bit of pushing and shoving which started but it was handbags.

"It's disappointing this has happened and we certainly won't tolerate anyone, no matter who it is, being abused in our bar."

A statement from the bar added: "At Soul, the safety of our customers is our first priority.

"We have zero tolerance regarding abusive or offensive behaviour from or towards ANY of our customers.

"On reviewing CCTV, we can confirm staff and licensed door stewards correctly performed their duties as required.

"Our management and licensed door stewards have complete authority to evict any customers they feel is of an undesirable nature to be within our venue, so request that any customers who choose to join us behave in an appropriate manner."

Why did the bar not ask the offenders to leave rather than the victim?

Jack wasn't asked to leave.  He and his wife left of their own accord to remove themselves from the situation.

Of course which is sensible but security should have taken them somewhere safe (such as a private room) and removed the offenders first.

Absolutely - but according to the owners of said bar they reviewed cctv and their security staff followed proper protocols.

Either way, it really is incredible where the game is heading in Scotland.  And some may call us paranoid but prior to December 29th the amount of threats and abuse was far, far lower than it is currently.  Someone IS going to be seriously injured (or worse).  The media play victim when they have stoked and fanned the flames of paranoia.  The Scottish government get involved when Lennon gets hit on his jacket by a coin (and subsequently feigns injury) but clearly have no desire to get involved when Morelos is subject to multiple racist abuses - and they are very conspicuously absent right now when all sorts of threats are taking place.

All of it appears to be because Celtic fans know that we are now competing again and  they simply cannot accept that they can be defeated on the field of play and, if they don't win, then they must have been cheated.  They have always been like this - but when they had their 7 years free reign to win everything it papered over their inferiority complex cracks.

And yet WE are the ones who usually get blamed for the ills of the game - when it is the lunatic crackpot fringe of the Celtic fanbase that instigate all of these issues.  Yet none of the media are prepared to call it as it is - no wonder there is animosity on all sides.

The sheep may be even lower than the yahoos in many respects. A comment regarding the Jack incident on a sheep forum.
