Paul Jewell has resigned as Wigan boss a day after saving the club from Premiership relegation on the final day of the season.

The club confirmed the 42-year-old had left to BBC North West.

More to follow.

Cant blame him working for that embarresing chairman.

I'm a bit surprised. He's a good manager and I thought he would fancy his chances of bringing Wigan on next year, maybe doing a Bolton and establishing themselves in the top flight.

Apparently he's been linked with Man City. BTW has Allardyce been confirmed at Newcastle?

Not sure if he is right for Man City but can see Pearce leaving. I think Man City could be with a big name who has experience at higher levels. Jewell did well last season and has done well to get Wigan up to the EPL.

As for Allardyce, I heard on the news that this is supposed to be announed later today.
