ian1964 10,594
The Ibrox side haven't won a top-flight title since 2011 and a team from South America is aiming to beat them to 55. Rangers have been warned their claim to be the world's most successive football club with 54 titles is under threat, by Uruguayan giants Penarol. The Ibrox side picked up the last of their league wins in 2011 and are desperate to make it 55 soon. But the Montevideo club are fast catching up, having won the last three Uruguayan titles to take them up to 52 in total. And Penarol president, Jorge Barrera, h He said: "We have 52 titles and only the Glasgow Rangers from Scotland with 54 surpasses us in the world. "Our ambition is to be the most successive football club in the world. "We want to be more than a football club, a club who promotes values. as revealed he has Rangers in his sights. "We are a football club, but we have social responsibilities with our country, without distinction of class. "This club wants to be winner on the pitch of course, but also a club that goes beyond that. "Penarol are a club who think very, very big and have huge ambitions." Steven Gerrard's side are in the mix for the Premiership title and can further demonstrate their title credentials when they take on Dundee in Sunday's Premiership clash at Den's Park. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-record-worlds-most-successful-13708608
