der Berliner 4,107
So they may bid 8m for Tav? Not bad. Methinks when the Polster deal was first mentioned, someone said that this was possibly made in expectation of bids for Tav ... or something to this extend. People will throw funny figures about, but 8m for Tav would be enormous. MEthinks I said somewhere above the last week will be torment, as this will happen with him and Morelos till JAnuary 31st ...

I doubt very much that Southampton will bid 8M. If they do make a bid, it's more likely to be about half of that. If it were to be around a 4M bid then we'd probably say no. Best we can realistically hope for Tav, all things considered, is probably around 5M.

I actually agree but then the scary thought after that is who it leaves us with at left back if we don't have time to sign a replacement - Flannigan

Popular Post Tannochsidebear 2,502
The Rangers captain, knows English game, huge number of goals and assists for a full back, European experience, all for £8M? Not a chance without a Dick Turpin mask. Do you see what bang average players that are nowhere near the level of Tav are going for in England these days? A helluva lot more than £8M. They are paying more than that for players with a handful of first team games. We must be more aware of the market we are selling our players into. We should no longer be grateful for a bid of a few million.
JFK-1 1,694
We're always being told even by the manager that everyone has their price and that is indeed a fact we just have to deal with. But I feel there also has to be a time and this is not the time to be losing our captain. He's contracted till 2022 so we can spend the rest of this season scouting for a replacement before telling interested parties that if you want him the bidding starts at a minimum £10 million.

DMAA 3,742
I do agree with @Tannochsidebear but on the other hand I can't help but think that we need to be selling our top assets for big money in order to rebuild this club. He is 27 and possibly at peak value but he's approaching the age where your value falls off a cliff and people are only interested in a loan/bosman. I think Gerrard has been brilliant and talking up our players and I trust him to get good value whenever proper bids do come in but I think we need to be aiming to sell when big bids come in and put faith in our recruitment department to improve the squad with the money.
