McLeish should never have got the job in the first place. Israel (94th in the world rankings) had over 30 shots at goal and McGregor saved us from a hiding tbh.

There is a decent bunch of young players there but they have given the job to the wrong man. To think there was talk of him coming back to Ibrox not long ago?

Think the squad is horrific, along with the manager and those running the game.

The worst part is there doesn't seem to be any sort of plan in place to rectify it. We've seen from the likes of Iceland and Belgium what a bit of creative thought can achieve.

So it's going to take blind luck for things to improve. McLeish being appointed sums up where the Scottish game is just now. Everyone is by this stage completely aware of how crap he is and we all knew he would fail: https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/alex-mcleish-scotland-truly-dreadful/

Scottish football is bereft of leadership, collective competence or any vision beyond the end of their noses.

It does have an extraordinary ability to self-harm and hate itself though.

The bleak numbers from financial statements limit options and it is pretty much in the place that it deserves to be.

Call for another enquiry that they can ignore

Horrific is a bit OTT. Alan McGregor, Teirney, Robertson, McKenna, McDonald, Cairney, Armstrong, Fraser, Jack, McGinn, Callum McGregor, Forrest, Ritchie and Naismith are all operating at EPL/Championship or SPL level. Recently qualified teams like NI and ROI would love those players IMO. The problem is not the squad, it's the prehistoric managers we choose to employ.

It’s not all that long ago we were made up of mainly higher end EPL and top old firm players. I think the current squad is crap and has been for some time. Resembles an English championship side more than anything.

When did our squad have higher end EPL players?

When we were last qualifying for major tournament in the mid to late 90's we had the likes of Goram, Gough, Hendry, Weir, Calderwood, McAllister, Lambert, Collins,  McCall, McCoist etc. All high quality players considerably above what we have now, some of whom played to a decent level in England.

From the current Scotland team, only McGregor, Robertson and Naismith particularly stand out to me.

Fair enough but that's a lifetime ago. Football has moved on so much since then. What I should have said is that this squad is the best we've had in the last decade or so.
