Scott7 6,155
Awful game. ‘Spurs not too bad box to box but could nothing within sight of goal until the 79th minute. Players of both teams looked paralysed with tension walking out of the tunnel. I like to see them looking grim (Shearer/Gough) or utterly gallus (Baxter) Gallus only works if you’ve got Baxter’s talent, though. Fans didn’t enjoy it either. ‘Spurs because of the early goal and Liverpool because they couldn’t add to it until the end.
JFK-1 1,693
Extremely poor game but at the end of the day I doubt anyone at Liverpool will care. If it were us would you prefer to lose an end to end classic by 4 goals to 3 or scrape a narrow win in a lackluster match? Afterwards I wouldn't care what it looked like providing our name was on the trophy. And it's not as if Liverpool have performed like this consistently. It was a rare off night perhaps compounded by a three week break since their last game. Same for Spurs. Plus if Liverpool go on to strengthen again during the close season they can be the terror of Europe and the EPL once again next season. Just one loss in the league and didn't win the title. Remarkable.
buster. 5,257
Is it easier to win the CL than the EPL/domestic league title ?... Liverpool would suggest it might be (2005 & 2019) but Guardiola's teams (ManCity & Bayern, 6 seasons, 5 Leagues, No CL), would point to the opposite.
Uilleam 5,960
Difficult to win both, it seems.

Difficult but it's happened a fair bit over the past decade Barca (Guardiola & Luis Enrique) Real Madrid (Zidane) Bayern Munich (Heynckes) Includes two of what were caretaker appointments at the time. Note that a little further back, another, Del Bosque did well in the CL (not to mention Di Matteo) Edited June 3, 2019 by buster.
