The plastic pitches still need maintenance...just not to the same level.

There is also the fact that they can use it for training, therefore no requirement for a separate training facility - which I'd imagine will greatly reduce club costs.

I didn't consider the training aspect tbh. Good point Darther

Aye, I just think the reason they went with a plastic pitch is entirely cost! it must be cheaper! as has been said Killie always had a good grass pitch.

For some reason I seem to recall a story about undersoil heating messing up their pitch? (don't quote me on that). Their grass pitch went from bowling green to sand pit over a decade

People use it allday every day. They hire it out to anyone.

The spl should ban it.

Clubs would suffer financially but we look small time by having so many.

Frustrating; he was a key player.

That pitch has to be banned.

I don't know if the Killie one has all the little black balls that shoot up when you kick the ball but there are scientists\doctors in Holland who believe that is linked it to cancer. The black balls are made from old tyres. There are a number of kids who got Cancer and they are rightly or wrongly blaming that sort of plastic pitches.

I remember Falkirk being denied promotion due to the fact they didn't have a 10000 all seater stadium! which I think allowed the sheep to stay up?????

It happened twice.  94/95 and 99/00.  They didn’t seem to care about sporting integrity on those two occasions.

I can understand these pitches in Scandinavia but I agree with the above, it makes Scottish football look small time.

To be fair it was a rule and they later rightly changed it.
