trublusince1982 243
As it says today is not the end. The club is in a very difficult fight. FS what do you expect the club to say? The club obviously has to speak to it's lawyers, JD and Hummel first. The club is doing everything it can. They take the advice of lawyers on every step. Anyone looking from the outside in can use hindsight and decide the lawyers know less than them. Doesn't make it true

Doesn't make it true Given Kings previous legal peccadilloes I have difficulty believing he takes the advice of lawyers on every step. Bottom line in this clusterf*&k is that Ashley's lawyers got the better of ours.
der Berliner 3,424
The FF info sure tells a more positive story than what we got before ... not least since SD seemingly pushed for more trouble. Quite few "what ifs" remain open, at the end of the day - and Ashley sure won't care as he's about as susceptable to criticism as Trump - it paints SD in an even worse light. Wonder who would want to deal with them ... though that's not our concern. Right now, it is again the normal supporter which suffers, as he is denied access to the new shirts et al. Not that stocks won't be emptied in no-time once the case is over.

The club is indrectly looking to apply lipstick to a pig,.... but the pig is still Mike Ashely, he's better advised than we are and like the Pedro Caixinha fall-out, we'll be affected by it for the forseeable. You have to wonder about our executive management, our finances and the ongoing sustainabilty. I think we really need European group stage football this season.
compo 6,465
Hummel must be looking and wondering if they have made a boob by becoming involved with our club after all they are in the business of selling strips not storing them .

Hummel won a watch being directly associated with Rangers as SG was being appointed but theyll be keeping an anxious eye on what results and when from current negotiations between the club and SDI.
D'Artagnan 173
I still cant understand why some fans thought we had severed ties with SD - we hadnt, we had re-negotiated the deal to terms which were more favourable to us. Not perfect by any means, but certainly not a parting of the ways. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40358177
barca72 440
As I understand it, we negotiated a new deal with another company that was to be more favourable to the club. All that has happened is that SD have to match the conditions of that more favourable deal. Where exactly does the club lose with the new deal, except for legal fees?

The legal fees are very significant. Sales will be lost as many fans will still not buy from SD, not to mention the fans losing the feel-good factor. It also impacts our future ability to negotiate retail deals.

A football fan may understand football but it's more difficult to get a hold on this business and it would seem as even our lawyers struggle. I think the more salient question is why did our board / lawyers think they could sever ties in the way intended, given the detail of the agreement that had been signed.
