STUART ARMSTRONG has been ‘given permission’ to speak to Southampton after Celtic accepted a bid for the midfielder.

The BBC claim that the Hoops accepted a £7million offer for Armstrong, which could increase depending on various factors.

Why would you pay so much for a midfielder that wasn't getting a first team start in the Scottish League and is entering the final year of his contract ?

The only reason would be a bidding war and there didn't seem to be one.

It tends to be a shuttle service between two clubs who regularly do business.
