"Seriously, has there been any individual in the past 20 years who has done more to raise the profile of Scottish football with one single act than the Australian?"

"If it wasn’t for Rogic, there also wouldn’t be any Rodgers. Subsequently, there wouldn’t be any Gerrard."

I'd say it'll be more important how he spends it.

Wasting piles of cash in football is easy, spending it wisely brings relative success.

He cant spend it unless he’s got it tho.

The publicity for Rangers is great. Stevie G. is world-renowned.
Then he has to win two to three Qualifiers, and win 4/5 league games. This is just to set his stall up for Celtic.
Tall order and not impossible, but to install in the team and the rest of the league he's a winner, it's imperative he get relatively quick consistancy.

You can almost guarantee that in our first 3 games of next season they will give us Aberdeen, Hibs and Killie to make it as difficult as possible for Gerrard and Rangers to get off to a good start

Hopefully SG will have put together a squad capable of sweeping that lot aside. :D

I previously posted my concerns and scepticism on the appointment of Steven Gerrard as manager, but I have now come to the conclusion that it would be a good appointment based on the following points:-

1. We cannot sink any lower than where we are at this present time.

...

No disrespect here, but on May 4th 2013 were were playing our last league game in the Scottish Third Division at home against Berwick Rangers, winning 1-0 (Fracer Aird).  Getting beaten by a Yahoo team costing 25odd million more than our team to assemble is bad, but we have been far lower in recent history.

Souness's first three fixtures in a calendar week in '86/87 were : Hibs away lost 2-1, Falkirk home won 1-0, and Dundee United away lost 3-2.

Have helped the club run itself into the ground long enough.

Weve all been over it. The positives are mostly in the mind of the online support. Positive press hasnt happened and neither will the attraction of better calibre players. Only money will do that.

So far the big investment is just fans online again trying to justify decisions.

Will get excited at investment but not on a rookie who has never identified nor build a squad spending it.

Five minutes ago we were sure an empty magic hat was all we needed. I think most of us are finally realising you judge success after the event and welcome new managers and players with warmth and optimism ... but also caution and realism ... the spectrum being heavily influenced by the extent of any spending power that's not funded by debt alone. So, welcome and good luck Steven Gerrard, we'll see how you do.
