Wallace + £300,000 for Lafferty.......might be shite of course

You'd probably have to add a fair whack to pay off at least part of the Lee Wallace contract.

COUGH IT UP Kyle Lafferty to Rangers: Gers told to cough up ‘close to £1m’ as Hearts brand initial offer ‘an insult’

HEARTS have told Rangers to stump up close to £1million if they want Kyle Lafferty, according to reports.

Gers had an initial bid of £200,000 rejected after trying to tie up their former striker.

And now the Sunday Mail claim Jambos have told their Ibrox rivals to get real with an offer of close to £1m for the Northern Ireland international.

They claim the Edinburgh outfit found the first offer ‘insulting and disrespectful’ and are wary of any deal involving future instalments.

Lafferty scored 19 goals in 41 appearances after returning to Scotland last year as he penned a two-year deal with Hearts.

Rangers are expected to return with a fresh bid this week, however, it is said to be less than £300,000.

The 1m is media garbage, as is the "insult" and "disrespectful" stuff.  You wonder whether they have text templates that they can through in at leisure, only to get articles done ever more quickly. Though the glossary used by sports reporters (and fans) has become rather limited in recent years anyway, and usually scrape either side of the spectrum (best ever vs worst ever) rather than keeping reports and debates at neutral, impartal if not to say normal levels and standards.

Someone with connections to Hearts folk over on FF remarked, that Hearts do NOT want 1m and 500k will see the deal done. Whether or not Wallace can be utilized is not known, as that would be very much in Wallace's court.

Regarding Lafferty ... a very decent back-up striker, bags of experience, not leats on international level, a pest to any defender he plays against, gives 100% and knows what it means to play for us. We seriously need back-up to Morelos and Sadiq, not least when we go 2 up front. Those three and Cummings (of a similar ilk to Lafferty in terms of application and workrate) would have eased my concerns for the striking department, but we have to see how it develops.

People may rave about Solanke all day long, but unless he comes here and actually does a job he's - demand-wise - never been asked before, it is all just purest speculation. Let's see how it all shapes up later today ...

Paper talk of a second 300K bid going in for Lafferty.

If true, it would be a waste of time, we'll get the same response.

If Gerrard wants him in, we'd be better to make an offer that at least has a chance, around 450-550K.

Disagree we should walk away if it fails.
