Arfield ismt a left sided midfielder though, at least not to the best of my knowledge.

Well, he can play on either side and through the middle, the stats have him on the left a little more ... not least at Burnley.

Posh Swoop For Forest Striker

Transfer coup for Posh as Cummings arrives.

Scotland international becomes the latest recruit for Steve Evan's men.

Peterborough United have swooped to sign Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings on a season-long loan deal, beating off stiff competition from a host of clubs also keen to secure the Scotland international.

The 22-year-old has completed the paperwork at the City Ground and is expected to be involved for Posh in Saturday’s pre-season friendly at St. Neots. Cummings joined Forest for a reported £1 million from Scottish side Hibernian in the summer of 2017 after scoring 69 in 148 appearances in all competitions.

Cummings was Hibs' top scorer over each of the three seasons after making his debut in 2013-14, scoring more than 20 goals each season, making him the first player to achieve this feat for over 50 years. These goals helped Hibs win the Scottish Cup in 2016 and promotion in 2017.

He spent the end of last season on-loan with Glasgow Rangers, scoring six goals in 18 appearances. He has netted four times for Nottingham Forest including once in the Sky Bet Championship. Manager Steve Evans was delighted to secure the striker’s services for the full campaign and is looking forward to working with the prolific front man.

“I am delighted to sign Jason. When you sign a player of the calibre of Jason from a club the size of Nottingham Forest, you have to give credit and thanks to our chairman Darragh MacAnthony for sanctioning the move. When you take into consideration that we will be paying the full wages for Jason, recognition has to be given to Darragh and the board of directions.

"The board have once again given me wonderful support. I would also like to thank the Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka for his help in making the move possible. Jason has a real work ethic and has a great habit of scoring goals. For me it is an outstanding addition to an already talented squad and I look forward to working with him,” Evans told theposh.com.

Cummings is the 13th summer arrival, following in the footsteps of Aaron Chapman, Jason Naismith, Rhys Bennett, Josh Yorwerth, Tyler Denton, Colin Daniel, Alex Woodyard, Mark O’Hara, Louis Reed, Adam King, Siriki Dembele and Matt Godden.

We will be speaking to Jason on Saturday following the friendly with St. Neots.

At 22 he's still young and given his talent and workrate, the future is his to take.

It remains to be seen whether we find the likes of him for next season.

IBROX-BOUND?

Rangers target Harry Wilson set to leave Liverpool on loan, confirms manager Jurgen Klopp

The Reds have rejected a bid from Celtic for the 21-year-old Welshman - will he join Steven Gerrard at Ibrox instead?

Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson is close to leaving to club on loan, amid links with a move to join Steven Gerrard at Rangers.

The 21-year-old Wales international recently signed a new five-year deal with the Merseyside club after a successful spell at Hull City last season, where he scored seven goals in 13 Championship appearances.

He also starred in Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Chester, where he fired in a cool brace in a 7-0 win.

He was expected to line up again for the Reds in Saturday’s friendly against Bury, but Klopp explained he has been omitted from the squad as he is nearing a loan switch.

“Harry has a lot of interest in him from different clubs, so no risk now,” the German chief told Liverpoolfc.com.

“[Playing] with a little bit tired legs during the game, that makes no sense. So Harry has a little session at home.”

Norwich City are apparently among the Championship clubs keeping an eye on the Welshman, while Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers have also been linked with an interest.

Celtic were even said to have submitted an official bid to take the youngster on loan this term, only to have it knocked back by the Reds.

And it is suggested this could be because he may be set to join his former Liverpool youth coach at Rangers instead, due to a unique transfer deal struck between the two clubs.

Liverpool have agreed to let Kop hero Gerrard have first refusal on any academy starlets they are looking to send out on loan this summer.

However, there are reports from Merseyside that the club would prefer Wilson return to the Championship.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds want Wilson to remain in England this season – handing a boost to the likes of Norwich, Derby County, Stoke City and Aston Villa, who are all said to be keen.

Wilson first joined Liverpool as part of their Under-9s set up.

He has four caps for Wales, scoring one goal, and broke Gareth Bale’s record as the youngest player to play for the nation when he made his Dragons debut at the age of 16.
